Attack on Titan 3 will cover the anime's story from beginning to end, with no "what if" scenarios or branching story paths, according to an interview with Famitsu published October 30, 2026, with Koei Tecmo Games development producer Hideo Suzuki. Players experience the story as an original character who is a senior to Eren's group, and every character interaction event was newly made for this game.

The action game is scheduled for December 10, 2026, on PS5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, according to Koei Tecmo America. Suzuki (鈴木英生) was a planner on the series' first game and has been producer since Attack on Titan 2: Final Battle.

Suzuki told Famitsu the team first considered adapting only the parts of the anime that came after Final Battle. They worried that alone might not satisfy players as a full product. The team chose to rebuild the whole story from the start, and full development began after the anime ended. The game also rebuilds stories covered by earlier entries and adds battles against the Nine Titans and new story content. Because players control the original protagonist throughout, there are no sections where the player fights as a Titan.

The largest changes are in combat. Titans attack more aggressively, and players now need to dodge their attacks. A free cursor lets players target any body part, which can stop a Titan before it unleashes a powerful attack. After anchoring onto a Titan, the character now slashes automatically instead of needing a timed button press. New moves include "Combat Arts," which are one-button special attacks, and "Boost Move." Holding the button during aerial movement turns it into a slide, and charging a Titan mid-slide attacks its feet. Characters new to this entry also get "Buddy Arts" team attacks. Expeditions outside the walls are a new addition, presented in an open-field format.

Suzuki said players who mainly want the story should be able to finish without getting stuck in battle. An optional "Focus Mode" slows time while a button is held to make aiming easier. Other options include automatic lock-on. Lowering the difficulty carries no penalty or reduced rewards. A highest difficulty unlocks after the main story, and clearing it earns a reward item.

The Tokyo Game Show 2026 demo ended with a fight against the Beast Titan. Suzuki said watching people play it gave the team an important guide for later balance adjustments. An opening animation will be added to the game in an update.
