Sunrise announced on October 30, 2026, that the anime adaptation of Kaiji Kawaguchi's The Silent Service (Chinmoku no Kantai) will get its first Blu-ray release on March 26, 2027, marking the adaptation's 30th anniversary. Preorders for The Silent Service COMPLETE Blu-ray (special limited edition) opened the same day, according to Sunrise's official announcement. The set costs ¥19,800 including tax.

The set includes the TV special that aired in 1996 and the OVAs The Silent Service VOYAGE 2 and The Silent Service VOYAGE 3, released in 1997 and 1998. Sunrise says this is the first time all three titles have been collected together. The footage has been remastered in HD from the original negative film. The total runtime is about 214 minutes, presented in 4:3 at 1080p with linear PCM stereo audio. The listed video extra is a collection of commercials.

The set comes in a special case with newly drawn art by the anime's character designer. A 12-page booklet includes an interview with Kawaguchi and a conversation between director Ryōsuke Takahashi and Masane Tsukayama, the voice of Shirō Kaieda, along with other material.

In comments released for the announcement, Kawaguchi said the nuclear issues the work dealt with remain unresolved, with people still uncertain and no answer in sight. He called it "by no means an old work from 30 years ago" (translated). Takahashi said the problems the series raised remain unsolved in reality, adding that "this work is still alive today" (translated).

The announcement lists retailer bonuses. A-on STORE, including its Premium Bandai branch, will offer an A2 blueprint-style poster of the Yamato based on production design art. Amazon.co.jp will offer a set of eight L-size visual sheets with scene stills and color design art. Participating retailers will offer a common bonus of three die-cut stickers, each about 100mm square, featuring Kaieda, the Seabat emblem and the title logo.

Sunrise has also opened a special page on V-storage. A 15-second commercial narrated by Tsukayama is posted on the Sunrise and Bandai Namco Filmworks YouTube channels.
