Sound! Euphonium and Delicious in Dungeon Stars Head the Cast
The four main cast members give the adaptation an immediate hook for international fans. Tomoyo Kurosawa (Kumiko Ōmae in Sound! Euphonium) heads the cast as heroine Noriko Tachiki, and Kentarō Kumagai (Laios in Delicious in Dungeon) plays Izark Kia Tarj. Yūichirō Umehara voices Rachef, and Eiji Takeuchi plays Keimos Lee Goda.
According to the announcement covered by Japanese anime news site eeo Media, character reference art, character introductions, and comments from the four actors were published alongside the reveal.
A Full-Series Adaptation Supervised by the Original Author
From Far Away (彼方から, Kanata Kara) ran in Hakusensha's shojo magazine LaLa from the November 1991 issue to the December 2002 issue, a run of roughly 12 years, and the series has more than 4 million copies in circulation. In 2004 it won the comic category of the Seiun Award, Japan's long-running science fiction prize. The manga predates the modern isekai boom by two decades, which makes a faithful, full-length adaptation in 2026 remarkable timing.
And "full-length" is the operative phrase. This is not a one-cour sampler of the opening volumes: the project adapts the entire story, with original author Kyoko Hikawa supervising the production to mark the serialization's 35th anniversary.
Studio DEEN handles animation production, with Noriyuki Abe directing. Abe's résumé includes Bleach and GTO: Great Teacher Onizuka, so the series is in veteran hands. Rika Takasugi handles series composition, Eiji Abiko designs the characters, and Takeshi Hama (Cosmic Wave) composes the music.
Looking Ahead
The broadcast rollout covers three channels. TOKYO MX airs the premiere at midnight on Sunday, October 4, 2026, with weekly episodes in that slot. ABC TV follows in a late-night Saturday slot from October 10, and the satellite broadcaster WOWOW starts its run on Tuesday, October 13, with every episode airing free.
The promotional campaign has kept moving since the initial reveal: eeo Media has also reported follow-up character and cast information, and a key visual and main trailer revealing the theme songs arrived in early September.
No international streaming partner has been announced yet. The source manga, however, is fully available in English: Viz Media published all 14 volumes of From Far Away between November 2004 and January 2007, so there is plenty of time to read ahead before the premiere.
