Five Voices, One Stage in Hibiya
The stage greeting at TOHO Cinemas Hibiya, a flagship theater in central Tokyo, reunites the show's traveling party: Atsumi Tanezaki (Anya Forger in Spy x Family) as Frieren, Kana Ichinose as Fern, and Chiaki Kobayashi as Stark. Joining them are the voices of the two main characters introduced in Season 2's Divine Revolte arc: Tarusuke Shingaki as Genau and Reina Ueda (Kanao Tsuyuri in Demon Slayer) as Methode.
According to the Oricon News report, the five will look back on Season 2 and share behind-the-scenes stories from the recording booth, centered on the episodes screening that day. Fans outside Tokyo aren't shut out of the talk, either. The Hibiya stage greeting will be broadcast live to the other eight participating theaters.
A Best-Of Lineup, From the Premiere to the Finale
The program pulls the highlights from Season 2, which Madhouse produced and which aired in Japan from January to March 2026. It opens with the first half of episode 29, "Shall We Go, Then?", the start of the season's journey. Then come the two half-episodes built around Fern and Stark's date, episode 31's "Somewhere She'd Like" and episode 32's "Other People's Home," a pairing that had fans talking when it aired.
The centerpiece is the full Divine Revolte arc, the season's big demon battle, covering episode 34 "A Demon-Slaying Request," episode 35 "The Divine Revolte," and episode 36 "A Magnificent End." The block closes with the second half of episode 37, "Himmel's Memoirs," which spotlights the bond of Frieren's old hero party, and the season finale, episode 38's "A Beautiful Sight." (Japanese TV anime episodes split into an A-part and B-part around the commercial break, which is why several selections are half-episodes.)
Frieren, written by Kanehito Yamada and drawn by Tsukasa Abe for Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday, follows an elf mage who outlives the hero party that defeated the Demon King and sets out again with new companions. The manga won the Manga Taisho 2021 grand prize and has topped 35 million copies in circulation.
Anniversary Postcards and How to Get In
Everyone who attends gets a two-postcard set. The first uses a new third-anniversary visual that debuts the day of the event. The second features the "Macht of the Golden Land" illustration that series character designer Takasemaru drew for the Frieren special event at Anime Expo 2026 in Los Angeles this past July, where it was originally handed out to attendees.
Tickets for the Hibiya stage greeting go through an advance lottery on the Japanese ticketing service Ticket Pia, open from 11:00 a.m. on September 4 to 11:59 p.m. on September 13, Japan time. The other eight theaters will sell tickets later through their own websites and box offices, per Oricon's coverage.
Looking Ahead
The event also serves as a lead-in to Season 3, subtitled the Golden Land arc, which premieres in October 2027. That season adapts the story beginning with chapter 81 in volume 9 of the manga and pits Frieren's party against Macht of the Golden Land, the same demon on the Anime Expo postcard.
The September 26 screening is a Japan-only event, and no international equivalent has been announced. Season 2 itself streams on Crunchyroll outside Japan, so catching up before October 2027 is easy. Viz Media publishes the manga in English, with 14 volumes out so far, though the series has been on hiatus in Japan since October 2025.
