Yotsuha's Return Is the Whole Hook
You Are a Four Leaf Clover reads like a straightforward high-school romance for about a page. Uichi Utsu (宇津宇一) was the popular kid back in elementary school. By high school he is the target of relentless bullying. What keeps him upright is a promise he made to his first love, Yotsuha (よつは), before she transferred away: he is going to become a veterinarian. Just as he reaches his limit, Yotsuha reappears in front of him, looking exactly the way he remembers her, with a hidden resolve in her eyes.
Comic Natalie, the Japanese entertainment news site that ran the announcement, files the series as "love suspense and mystery," and the second half of that label matters more than the first. Encyclopedia entries for the manga spell out the mechanism: Yotsuha has a watch that rewinds time to 8:15 PM the previous day, and she uses it to keep Uichi from dying in a future she has already watched happen. She is not forgiving toward the people who put him there.
Ten Volumes In, With a Live-Action Detour Behind It
Author Koushi launched the series in Weekly Shonen Champion, the Akita Shoten manga magazine, in July 2024. Volume 10 went on sale September 8, 2026, the same day Comic Natalie carried the anime announcement, and volume 11 follows on October 7. Koushi broke the news personally on X, thanking readers for carrying the series this far rather than pointing to a studio or a premiere window.
Akita Shoten has been pushing the title well beyond the page. In September 2025 it released a run of live-action promotional videos featuring Nogizaka46 member Nao Tomisato on the Akita Shoten YouTube channel, the Weekly Shonen Champion TikTok account and the series' official X account. Live-action promos for a running shonen manga are unusual, and they gave the series a reach that most mid-list Champion titles never get.
That matters for how the anime will be received, because this is not a franchise arriving with a decade of anime goodwill behind it. It is a two-year-old serial that built its audience on word of mouth about its twists.
Looking Ahead
No production details came with the announcement. There is no studio, director, series composition credit, voice cast or broadcast window, and the announcement gave no timetable for any of it. The next thing to watch for is a staff and studio reveal, which in Japan usually shows up alongside a teaser visual.
International readers have a clearer path to the manga than to the anime. Titan Manga has licensed You Are a Four Leaf Clover for English release, with volume 1 scheduled for September 7, 2027, according to the series' official Japanese account. That is a year out, and no legal English simulpub is running in the meantime. No streaming partner has been announced for the anime in any territory, which is normal at the green-light stage.
For now, the one firm date on the calendar is October 7, when volume 11 hits shelves in Japan.
