Brains Base Brings the Level 999 Villager to Screen

The Villager of Level 999 follows Kōji Kagami (鏡浩二), a "villager" who has maxed out at level 999 in a world where everyone is born with a fixed role and level cap. He crosses paths with Alice, the demon lord's daughter, and together with a growing crew of allies they set out to bridge the divide between humans and demons. Brains Base (Durarara!!, Baccano!) produces the adaptation, directed by Yoshinobu Kasai with Shinzō Fujita on series composition and Kentarō Matsumoto handling character design.

The main PV released by Japanese entertainment news site Comic Natalie previews both theme songs and gives the clearest look yet at the show's action sequences and character dynamics. A new key visual was released alongside the trailer.

Voice Cast and Theme Songs

Nao Tōyama (Rin Shima in Laid-Back Camp, Yui Yuigahama in My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU) voices Alice, the demon lord's daughter at the center of the story. Satoshi Inomata (猪股慧士) takes the lead as Kōji Kagami. Rounding out the main cast, Nobunaga Shimazaki plays Rex, a hero determined to take down the demon lord, while Manaka Iwami voices Kururu, Aoi Koga plays Tina, Lynn takes on Paruna, Yūichirō Umehara voices Menou, and Hiroya Egashira (江頭宏哉) plays Takako.

The opening theme "Not a Hero" comes from vocal duo Aitsuki Nakuru and Natsume Itsuki. Lyricist Natsume Itsuki described the track as a song about "not giving up on yourself," written to fight alongside both the characters on screen and the audience at home. The ending theme "HP" is performed by Yukimura., who spoke about the song's focus on finding strength in the will to keep moving forward. Both tracks can be heard in the new main PV.
