Char's Counterattack Meets SEED FREEDOM in One Lineup
The set pulls its three designs from two very different corners of the franchise. Tins A and B recreate the box art for the HGUC 1/144 RX-93 Nu Gundam and the HGUC 1/144 MSN-04 Sazabi, the rival mobile suits flown by Amuro Ray and Char Aznable in the 1988 film Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack. Tin C is styled after the HGCE 1/144 Mighty Strike Freedom Gundam, Kira Yamato's upgraded suit from the 2024 film Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM. The three tins ship together as a single set rather than being sold individually.
Gunpla packaging is familiar ground for the franchise, which has been running since the original Mobile Suit Gundam aired in 1979 and has since expanded across TV anime, films, OVAs, manga, novels, and games. The plastic model kits remain its most recognizable product line, right down to the box art these tins borrow.
Each steel tin measures roughly 185mm wide by 125mm tall by 45mm deep and holds a 70g bag of chocolate chip cookies. Once those are gone, the report from Japanese anime news site Anime Anime suggests displaying the tin or using it to store small items. For Gunpla builders, that probably means nippers, decal sheets, and spare runner parts.
Price, Preorder Window, and the Fine Print
The set costs 4,290 yen (about $29) and is up for preorder now on Premium Bandai, Bandai Namco's official web shop. Orders close on August 23, 2026 at 11:00 p.m. Japan time, though the production run is limited and preorders will end early if it sells out. There is a limit of 10 sets per person.
A few practical notes for anyone planning to actually eat these: the cookies carry a best-by date of August 12, 2027 and contain wheat, egg, milk, and soy. The tins themselves are steel, made in Japan, and rated for ages 6 and up.
Looking Ahead
Oddly enough, walking into a store may get you the tins faster than preordering. The announcement says the set will also roll out to candy sections and supermarkets across Japan from around late October 2026, ahead of the November 2026 shipping window for Premium Bandai orders, a gap the listing attributes to delivery logistics.
No international release has been announced. Both the preorder listing and the October retail rollout cover Japan only, so the source doesn't say whether overseas fans will get an official route to these.
