A Commentary Track Recorded Over Drinks

Simulcast commentary tracks are nothing new, but this one comes with a twist. Yumi Uchiyama (Rudeus), Konomi Kohara (Roxy), and Ai Kayano (Sylphiette), who played Menma in anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day, recorded the Episode 5 commentary while drinking. The idea, per the official announcement, is to match the relaxed Sunday-night mood of the broadcast slot: fans can pour whatever they like, alcoholic or not, and toast along with the cast as the characters celebrate on screen.

The premiere kicks off on the TOHO animation YouTube channel at 11:58 p.m. JST on Sunday, July 26, with a two-minute opening talk. The main commentary starts at midnight, synced to the TOKYO MX and BS11 broadcast of the episode.

Episode 5, "Celebration," Lives Up to Its Title

According to the synopsis published by Japanese anime news site Animate Times, Episode 5 opens with Cliff and Elinalise's wedding at the Holy Millis Church, with Rudeus and his family there to celebrate the couple. Ryōta Ōsaka voices Cliff and Rie Tanaka voices Elinalise.

The party doesn't stop there. During the festivities, Rudeus realizes that his younger sisters Norn and Aisha have yet to celebrate their tenth birthdays, so he heads into town with Sylphiette and Roxy to shop for presents. The synopsis ends on a tease: Rudeus's long-held wish is finally about to come true. What that wish is, we'll find out when the episode airs. Six preview stills accompany the announcement.

The Isekai Pioneer, Now in Its Third Season

Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation started in 2012 as a web novel by Rifujin na Magonote on Shōsetsuka ni Narō, Japan's biggest user-submitted fiction site, and is widely regarded as the pioneer of the modern isekai reincarnation genre. The setup: a 34-year-old shut-in dies in a traffic accident and wakes up as a newborn in a world of swords and magic. Reborn as Rudeus Greyrat, he carries his past life's memories and regrets into a vow to live seriously this time.

Studio Bind, the studio formed to animate the franchise, continues to produce Season 3, which carries the subtitle "Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu" (I'll Get Serious When I Go to Another World) and has been airing weekly since early July 2026.

Looking Ahead

Episode 5 airs Sunday, July 26 at midnight JST on TOKYO MX and BS11, followed by Sun TV at 1:30 a.m. and KBS Kyoto at 12:45 a.m. In Japan, ABEMA and dAnime Store stream each episode alongside the broadcast, with other Japanese platforms following on Wednesdays.

Internationally, Crunchyroll simulcasts Season 3 in most regions, including North America, Europe, and Latin America, so overseas fans can watch "Celebration" shortly after Japan does. For anyone who wants to read ahead, Seven Seas Entertainment publishes the original light novels in English, with more than 26 volumes out, plus the manga adaptation.
