Yūsuke Shirai and Yūko Natsuyoshi Bring Felix Star to Life
Both newcomers play residents of Felix Star, the series' mysterious magic kingdom. Yūsuke Shirai (Ramuda Amemura in Hypnosis Mic: Division Rap Battle, Shūmei Sasaki in Sasaki and Miyano) voices Mucchi, the perpetually busy chair of the committee running the kingdom's "Magic Festival." In his announcement comment, Shirai admitted the character is a mystery even to him: Mucchi seems important, never stops rushing around, and may or may not be named after his squishy build. He suggested viewers might figure that last part out once the episodes air.
Yūko Natsuyoshi (Sasha Necron in The Misfit of Demon King Academy) plays Shiromofu, a fluffy fur-ball creature whose distinctive cry is "kyuu." Natsuyoshi described Shiromofu as a completely ordinary, cozy little animal, then noted that its floating presence takes the edge off even the show's serious scenes. She said she performs it as though that softening effect is the creature's actual job.
The announcement doesn't say how either character ties into the sisters' story, only promising that their connection to Lilly and Lulu will become clear as the cour unfolds.
All Five Idols in One Frame, and ILLIT Sticks Around
The new main visual, revealed alongside the date in the press release carried by Famitsu, a Japanese games-and-entertainment news site, is the first image to gather all five idols of the show's in-story agency together, including recent addition Asahi Araki (voiced by Miyari Nemoto). It is a sharp tone shift from the earlier teaser visual, trading atmosphere for a bright group shot of the full lineup.
On the music side, ILLIT, the five-member K-pop group whose debut song "Magnetic" became a global hit, returns from the first cour's opening "Bubee" to perform the new opening theme "Swingin' Magic." The group described the song as a new jack swing track built on a rhythmic groove, one that swings lightly across the boundary between dream and reality. It arrives on music streaming services September 21, 2026, ahead of the broadcast.
The ending theme "Doriimu A La Mode" (roughly "Dream à la Mode") is once again performed in character by the sisters' idol unit LuluttoLilly, sung by lead voice actresses May Tachibana (橘めい) and Nao Ojika (小鹿なお).
Broadcast Details and the Pierrot Pedigree
The second cour premieres Sunday, October 4, 2026 at 10:30 p.m. on TOKYO MX, with ABC TV and TV Aichi airing it later the same night. BS NTV follows on October 5 and AT-X on October 8. The first cour, which ran from April to June, is streaming now on various services in Japan.
Magical Sisters LuluttoLilly is the newest entry in the Pierrot magical girl series, the Studio Pierrot line that produced five TV shows between 1983 and 1998, starting with Creamy Mami, the Magic Angel. The new series is an original work co-created by Studio Pierrot and Bandai Namco Filmworks, directed by Shintarō Dōge (who also handles the original character drafts), with series composition and scripts by Yūko Kakihara and music by ha-j.
The story follows the Nonoyama sisters: Fuu (風), a carefree elementary schooler, and her older sister Rui (流), a reserved but hardworking middle schooler. Once close, the two have drifted apart, until a mysterious spaceship grants them magic that transforms them into the idol duo LuluttoLilly. The catch is that the power lasts exactly one year, and the announcement teases what ending that time limit will lead the sisters toward.
Looking Ahead
"Swingin' Magic" hits streaming services on September 21, with the second cour's premiere following on October 4. The announcement covers Japanese broadcast and domestic streaming only; no international simulcast partner has been named for either cour so far.
