How the Sweep Breaks Down
ABEMA, the Japanese streaming service, has published its most-watched anime rankings for the first half of 2026, and Jujutsu Kaisen sits at No. 1 on every single chart. According to the report from Oshiraku, Rakuten Books' fan-media site, the rankings draw on viewing data for anime broadcast and streamed on ABEMA between January 1 and June 30, 2026.
The data is sliced three ways: an overall ranking covering every anime on the platform, a new-show ranking limited to the winter and spring 2026 seasons, and three age-bracket rankings for teens, viewers in their 20s, and viewers 30 and over. Each chart lists a top five, and Jujutsu Kaisen took first place on all of them.
The engine behind the sweep is Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3: The Culling Game Part 1, which aired from January 8 to March 26, 2026 and topped the new-anime chart on its own. The overall chart, which counts the Jujutsu Kaisen series as a whole, also put the franchise at No. 1.
Frieren Locks Down Second Place
Here is the overall top five:
- Jujutsu Kaisen
- Frieren: Beyond Journey's End
- Oshi no Ko
- Chibi Maruko-chan
- Atashin'chi
Frieren: Beyond Journey's End finished second overall and second in all three age brackets, while its 10-episode second season, another winter 2026 title, placed third on the new-show chart. Oshi no Ko rounded out the overall top three and charted in every age bracket: third with teens, fourth with viewers in their 20s, and fifth with the 30-plus crowd.
The back half of the overall top five goes to Chibi Maruko-chan and Atashin'chi, two long-running family series that also placed high with viewers 30 and over. Oshiraku describes both as reliable staples that have held steady popularity for years. In the teen and 20s brackets, the remaining slots went to Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- and Classroom of the Elite.
Fantasy Newcomers Fill Out the New-Show Chart
The new-anime ranking, covering shows that premiered in winter or spring 2026, looks like this:

- Noble Reincarnation: Born Blessed, So I'll Obtain Ultimate Power

Outside the two heavyweights, every slot went to a fantasy title from the winter 2026 season. Oshiraku reads that as evidence of the isekai fantasy genre's staying power with ABEMA's audience.
Looking Ahead
For international viewers, the top of these charts is easy to catch up on. Crunchyroll streams Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3: The Culling Game Part 1 outside Asia, and the season arrived on Netflix on July 23, 2026. Frieren: Beyond Journey's End Season 2 streams on Crunchyroll, as does Easygoing Territory Defense by the Optimistic Lord.
As for what could shape the second-half rankings, TOHO animation's official YouTube channel has already posted a teaser for Jujutsu Kaisen Season 4, The Culling Game Part 2, which the channel lists as in production. No premiere date has been announced yet.
