Animate Times published an interview with actors Ryuji Sato and Yuta Tachibana on October 4, 2026, ahead of the stage play Jujutsu Kaisen -Shibuya Incident Part 1- (舞台「呪術廻戦」-渋谷事変 前編-), which opens on November 14, 2026. Sato has played Yuji Itadori since the first production in the stage series, and Tachibana has played Kento Nanami since the previous one, -Kaigyoku / Gyokusetsu-.

The production's official site lists performances at Shibuya LOVEZ in Tokyo from November 14 to 23, then at Sky Theater MBS in Osaka on November 28 and 29.

Sato said he is looking forward to the run more than ever, but that a stronger feeling was fear. The Shibuya Incident becomes a painful, mentally punishing fight for Itadori, he said, and he already feels that unease before opening night. He had only skimmed the whole script at the time of the interview, and said it struck him as faithful to the manga, with an opening scene that starts at full intensity.

Tachibana said he loves the character, whom he calls "Nanamin," and is very happy to play him again. He shares a birthday with Nanami, and said that because the Shibuya Incident is an important story for the character, his determination to do the role justice has grown stronger since he was cast.

The script is by Yuki Kubota, who also appears in the production as Toji Fushiguro, and Kensaku Kobayashi is directing, according to the official site. Tachibana called the script faithful to the manga and praised how it presents the story's developments, saying the structure draws the audience in.

Both actors said the staging is what they are most curious about. Tachibana said he wants to see how every scene will be handled, since the arc is drawn with force in both the manga and the anime. He added that the lighting in the previous production was fairly simple, which made devices such as the use of shadow look stylish, and that visual work of that kind only becomes clear once the company moves into the theater.

Sato said the stage series tries something new each time rather than reusing the same set and the same approach, choosing methods suited to each story, and he credited Kobayashi for that. He expects staging the series has not attempted before. Sato also recalled running along a wall during the fight with Hanami in the earlier production covering the Kyoto Sister School Exchange Event, and said he again wants to let Itadori's physicality do the talking.
