Mix, Match, and Stack Your Favorite Pairs
The appeal of MegaHouse's Tsumichen line is right there in the name: "tsumi" (stack) plus "chen" (a play on "chain"). Each figure is shaped like a scoop of ice cream sitting in a cup, and the modular design lets collectors swap characters between pairs, stack them into towers, or display them solo.
The Detective Conan set includes six pairs built around the franchise's most popular character dynamics, as reported by Japanese anime news site Anime Anime:
- Conan Edogawa & Kaito Kid (the rival pair)
- Conan Edogawa & Ai Haibara (the shrunken-detective duo)
- Shinichi Kudo & Ran Mori (the central romance)
- Heiji Hattori & Kazuha Toyama (the Osaka counterparts)
- Shuichi Akai & Masumi Sera (the sibling pair)
- Toru Amuro & Jinpei Matsuda (the fan-favorite police bond)
Each figure stands about 75mm tall and is made of pre-painted PVC. The sculpting is credited to Matsuda Model, with chibi-style character designs by Studio Viga.
What's in the Box
The set sold through Premium Bandai and Animate is the "Waffle Cone Cup Set," which includes all six pairs (each consisting of two ice cream scoops, one topping piece, and one cup) plus one exclusive waffle cone cup not available at other retailers. The full set costs ¥6,490 (approx. $42) with tax included.
Orders are limited to three sets per person, with only one set allowed per transaction, so buying three means going through checkout three times. Shipping is scheduled for December 2026.
Detective Conan's Ongoing Momentum
The Tsumichen set arrives during a busy stretch for the franchise. Gosho Aoyama's original manga, serialized in Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday since 1994, has surpassed 107 volumes and 270 million copies in circulation worldwide. The latest theatrical film, Detective Conan: Highway's Fallen Angel, has been in Japanese theaters since April 10, 2026.
The pair selections span the franchise's roster. Amuro and Matsuda in particular have become breakout favorites in recent years, and their inclusion alongside legacy pairs like Shinichi and Ran suggests MegaHouse is targeting both longtime fans and the newer audience drawn to the police-academy storylines.
Looking Ahead
Pre-orders are open now at Premium Bandai and Animate, with the waffle cone cup exclusive to those two retailers. December 2026 is the target ship date. No international retailer has been announced for this set, though Premium Bandai's global storefront occasionally stocks MegaHouse items. Collectors outside Japan may want to watch third-party importers like AmiAmi and HobbyLink Japan closer to release.
The Detective Conan manga is published in English by Viz Media under the title Case Closed, though recent volumes have slowed. The anime TV series streams on Crunchyroll in select regions.
