Sixteen Characters Chase One Counterfeit Bill
The new "all-hands" PV puts 16 characters on screen, and the main visual gathers the same crowd for what the production calls one of the biggest all-star casts in Detective Conan history. Japanese anime news site Anime Hack's report frames the special as the centerpiece of the TV anime's 30th anniversary project, airing in NTV's Friday Roadshow movie slot at 9 p.m. on September 25, 2026.
The case starts with money. A new 10,000-yen bill featuring "Toto Tower" has just gone into circulation, and Conan (Minami Takayama), the Detective Boys, Dr. Agasa, Ran and Sonoko are touring the Nagano plant of the Japan Banknote Printing Bureau. Back in Tokyo, the Metropolitan Police find counterfeit notes at a murder scene. That sends Conan and his Osaka rival Heiji Hattori west to chase a forgery case described as one that could shake the nation.
Actress Elaiza Ikeda joins as the special's guest voice, playing Toko Satomi, a document examiner at the National Police Agency's forensic research institute. Nobuharu Kamanaka, who has directed the TV series since episode 975, helms the special from a script by Takeharu Sakurai, with TMS Entertainment producing.
Mai Kuraki's 29th Conan Song
The theme song is titled "Hallelujah" and was written specifically for the special. It is Kuraki's 29th song for the Detective Conan franchise, and it drops as a digital single on September 25, the same day the special airs.
In a statement carried by Anime Hack, Kuraki said she poured her love, gratitude and passion for Conan into the track, written with the two-hour special in mind. She described the song's message as one about believing in yourself in any situation, opening your heart instead of nursing the pain of feeling shut out, and turning the world we see into a "hallelujah" together. She also thanked fans for the warmth they bring to the series.
Heiji and Kazuha Take the Stage
Starting September 26, the weekly TV anime shifts to Akane-iro no Senshuraku (茜色の千秋楽, roughly "The Crimson Closing Night"), a popular storyline from volume 106 of Gosho Aoyama's manga. It runs for three consecutive weeks.
The setup is meta by Conan standards. Conan and friends head to the Naniwa Arts Theater in Osaka to watch a stage play modeled on Kogoro Mori (Rikiya Koyama) and Heiji. Then a string of murders begins, kicked off by the death of a stage director named Kabumoto who was once known as the "puppet demon."
The arc's main visual focuses on the romance rather than the murders. It shows Heiji, voiced by Ryo Horikawa (Vegeta in Dragon Ball), resolved to tell Kazuha Toyama how he feels, while Kazuha, voiced by Yuko Miyamura (Asuka in Neon Genesis Evangelion), turns to look back at him. Above them hangs the story's main setting, the Naniwa Harukas skyscraper, drawn upside down as if it were falling out of the sky.
Osaka Tie-In and a Kyoto Stage Event
Naniwa Harukas is modeled on the real Abeno Harukas in Osaka, and its Harukas 300 observation deck is already running a Detective Conan collaboration. From September 18 to November 29, a "Naniwa Harukas Debut Campaign" sends fans on a walking route around Abeno Harukas and nearby facilities, with limited-time content along the way.
On September 19, Horikawa and Miyamura appear at the Kyoto International Manga Anime Fair 2026 (KyoMAF) for a 30th anniversary stage titled "Doki Doki! Akane-iro no Makuake!" ("The Crimson Curtain Rises"). They are set to share new details on both the special and the three-week arc. The stage will be livestreamed on the official Detective Conan YouTube channel, so fans outside Kyoto can tune in.
Looking Ahead
The schedule stacks up fast: the KyoMAF stage on September 19, the special and Kuraki's single on September 25, and the first Akane-iro no Senshuraku episode on September 26. Anime Hack's article does not mention any international broadcast or streaming plan for the two-hour special itself.
For the weekly series, Crunchyroll streams the Detective Conan TV anime, so the three-week arc is the more likely of the two to reach overseas viewers quickly. On the manga side, Viz Media publishes the series in English as Case Closed, and the English edition reached volume 98 in April 2026. That means English manga readers will see the volume 106 storyline only after the anime gets there.
