ONE OR EIGHT Take the Ending Theme
The ending theme for the new season is "Yellow Brick Road" by ONE OR EIGHT, an eight-member global boy group. The song arrives as a digital release on October 7. Group member MIZUKI, who has read the Black Clover manga since serialization began, called the ending theme assignment a genuine honor.
MIZUKI also drew a line between the song's subject and where the group sits right now. Asta and his squad take on impossible odds together and push past their limits; ONE OR EIGHT, MIZUKI said, are doing the same thing from Japan toward the rest of the world alongside their fanbase, the 1DERZ. MIZUKI framed the group's mindset around a single line, "Break your limits, right here, right now," and said they want to keep taking on that challenge. The opening theme is WANIMA's "Kienai Riyu" (roughly, "The Reason It Won't Fade").
Season 2 Opens on the Spade Kingdom Invasion
The setup has not changed since the 2021 finale. Magic is everything in this world, and Asta is the one boy born without any of it. His weapon is anti-magic, which cancels out every spell it touches, and his goal is the title of Wizard King.
Season 2 escalates the invasion by the Dark Triad, the rulers of the Spade Kingdom who carry the power of devils from the underworld. To win back Queen Loropechika along with Magic Knight squad captains Yami and Vangeance, Asta crosses into forbidden territory and reaches for the true power of a devil.
Ayataka Tanemura (種村綾隆) returns as director after working on the first anime series and the 2023 film Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King. Studio Pierrot (Naruto, Bleach) is back on animation production, with Keiichirō Ōchi (大知慶一郎) on series composition, Itsuko Takeda (竹田逸子) on character design and Minako Seki (関美奈子) on music.
Yuki Tabata's original manga ran in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump and Jump GIGA from February 2015 to May 2026, and has 24.5 million copies in circulation worldwide. The TV anime aired from 2017 to 2021, and Sword of the Wizard King followed in 2023 with a global streaming release.
Three Lead-In Specials, Including a Studio Pierrot Visit
TV Tokyo is filling September with three programs ahead of the premiere, per Oricon's report on the broadcast announcement.
The first, airing September 15 at 9:30 a.m., is Black Clover 1st Season Digest Part 2, a condensed run through the story and key moments so far. A late-night program the same day, at 12:06 a.m., is billed as the pre-broadcast special "Genkai o, Kirihirake" (「限界を、斬り開け。」, roughly "Slash your limits open"). It includes a Black Clover women's roundtable, Asta voice actor Gakuto Kajiwara reporting from the ground in Los Angeles, and a look inside Studio Pierrot for production stories.
The third, on September 22 at 12:15 a.m., is the strangest of the set. Built around Asta's famously overbuilt physique, it asks "Why Aren't You Weight Training?" and hands club bells to Crystal Noda of the comedy duo Magical Lovely, who takes on the weight and the centrifugal force in a limit-breaking attempt of their own.
Looking Ahead
In Japan, the premiere lands October 3 at 11 p.m. on TV Tokyo and affiliates, with BS TV Tokyo picking it up in a midnight slot from October 7. Advance streaming is confirmed on Anime Times, Lemino, U-NEXT and Anime Hodai, though details have yet to be announced.
Internationally, Crunchyroll holds the series for the U.S. and other territories outside Asia. Crunchyroll is also running a one-night theatrical sneak peek on September 21 at 7 p.m. local time across more than 280 theaters in the U.S. and Canada, screening the first episode in Japanese with English subtitles ahead of the October streaming debut.
