A First for Yuzusoft After Two Decades of Visual Novels
Yuzusoft has been making romance visual novels since 2006, and in all that time none of its titles had ever made the jump to anime. Senren*Banka (千恋*万花) is the one that finally breaks the streak. According to a report from Japanese gaming outlet Famitsu, the adaptation was announced on stage on July 26, 2026, during day two of the Kanto leg of Yuzusoft SONGFES 2026, the brand's own concert series. The broadcast is set for 2027, and Yuzusoft says everything beyond that will come in follow-up announcements.
The one piece of staffing news so far is the opening theme. KOTOKO, the singer behind opening themes for Shakugan no Shana and Hayate the Combat Butler, will perform the anime's OP. For a game whose soundtrack is a big part of its identity, putting a veteran anime-song vocalist on the opening is a statement of intent.
Just as notable for longtime players: the original cast is coming back. That means Sora Haruka returns as shrine maiden Yoshino Tomotake, with Yūka Kotorii as Mako Hitachi, Mikan Satō as Murasame, the centuries-old spirit tied to the shrine's sacred sword, and Sawa Sawasawa as Lena Liechtenauer.
The Million-Seller Behind the Announcement
Senren*Banka is a Japanese-style romance adventure set in a hot-spring town. Protagonist Masaomi Arichi breaks the sacred sword enshrined at the local shrine, awakens a spirit that has slept for 500 years, and finds himself engaged to the shrine maiden as a result. It first launched on PC in 2016 and later expanded to Steam and Nintendo Switch.
The timing of the anime announcement follows a major sales milestone. Famitsu notes that the game crossed 1 million copies sold worldwide in February 2026, roughly a decade after its original release, and has picked up multiple awards along the way. Yuzusoft announced the milestone on its official X account, thanking players and pointing to the PC, Steam, and Switch versions still on sale.
Looking Ahead
For now, 2027 is the only concrete date. The animation studio, director, episode count, and exact premiere window have not been announced; Yuzusoft says details will come in future updates, so expect a steady drip of staff and visual reveals over the next year.
No international streaming partner has been announced either. In the meantime, the source game is fully playable in English: NekoNyan publishes the official English PC version on Steam, and the game is also available on Nintendo Switch in Japan. If the anime sends new players toward the original, the on-ramp is already there.
