Chronoa Wakes Up, and Nobody Is Home
Oricon's advance synopsis and scene stills for the 94th episode of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime set the fight up in two lines. The seal on Chronoa (クロノア) has been broken, and what steps out of it is not the "Hero" the season has been building toward. Oricon describes Chronoa as an incarnation of destruction with no consciousness behind it. Against power on that scale, Rimuru falls back on a trump card. The synopsis stops there, so what that card is stays unknown until the broadcast.
The episode is titled 「魂の在処」 (Tamashii no Arika, roughly "Where the Soul Lies"). Oricon counts it as episode 94 overall, a number that runs all the way back to the 2018 premiere, which makes it the 22nd episode of the fourth season.
The Stills Put Hinata Back on Screen
Oricon leads its photo gallery with a different hook: the appearance of a shocking character, Hinata, who is supposed to be dead. Anyone caught up on the broadcast already knows how that is possible. Episodes 92 and 93, "Hero Chronoa" Part 1 and Part 2, followed Chloe and Hinata into the past through Chloe's time-travel skill, where they met Luminous and began the long journey that made Chloe the Hero Chronoa. Chronoa even picked a fight with the Storm Dragon along the way. Ten stills went out with the synopsis, and Oricon uses Hinata as the gallery's headline image.
What Rimuru Is Fighting For This Season
The series still runs on the premise it started with. Office worker Satoru Mikami is stabbed by a stranger, dies, and comes back in another world as a slime named Rimuru, chasing one goal: a country where every species can live comfortably together. He puts the skills he collects to work and wins over allies with wits and nerve.
Season 4 picks up with that country established. Rimuru's monster nation has opened its borders and established diplomatic relations with other nations, and it is pushing toward a world where humans and monsters can live together. Working against that are Granbell Rozzo, a former "Hero" who heads the Five Elders, and his granddaughter Mariabell Rozzo. Both champion protecting humanity through domination, and their scheming puts them on a collision course with Rimuru. In the golden land of Eldorado, the Demon Lord Leon starts moving toward a goal of his own. The season's official introduction ends on the line that one "Hero" was about to wake up. Episode 94 picks up that thread.
Looking Ahead
Episode 94 airs Friday, September 11 at 11 p.m. on Nippon TV's Friday Anime Night block and BS11. Crunchyroll has carried the fourth season since its April 3, 2026 premiere across North America, Latin America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East and Southeast Asia, so international viewers get it the same weekend. Eight Bit, which has animated the franchise since 2018, is handling the season with Atsushi Nakayama directing, and season 4 is laid out as a five-cour run, so episode 94 is nowhere near the finish line.
The franchise around it keeps growing. Fuse's web novel on the novel-submission site Shōsetsuka ni Narō became a manga drawn by Taiki Kawakami for Kodansha, and the series has passed 62 million copies in circulation. The TV anime started in October 2018, ran a split second season across 2021, and aired its third season from April to September 2024. A theatrical film arrived in 2022, and a new one is playing in Japanese theaters right now. Oricon's report does not mention an international release date for it.
