New Voices for the Kōkura Household
The three additions flesh out the wealthy Kōkura family's domestic staff and extended relatives. Yumi Uchiyama (Puck in Re:ZERO, Rudeus Greyrat in Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation) plays Nago, the estate's head maid. M.A.O (Shion in That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime) voices Mitsuya, a newly hired maid. Miyari Nemoto (根本京里) rounds out the trio as Yayoko Kōkura (鴻蔵弥栄子), a cousin of stepsisters Marika and Arisa.
Each new character orbits the household that protagonist Miya Nakamura has just entered. Nago and Mitsuya staff the estate, while Yayoko extends the Kōkura family tree beyond the immediate stepfamily.
The report from Japanese entertainment site Oricon News dropped alongside the anime's main PV, which also confirmed the series' theme songs. Lia performs the opening theme "Amayadori no Shōkei" (雨宿りの憧憬), and AVAM (アベアム) handles the ending theme "Clair" (クレール).
What's the Series About?
My Stepmother and Stepsisters Aren't Wicked inverts the wicked-stepfamily fairy tale. Miya Nakamura (中村美冶) loses her mother and gets taken in by the prestigious Kōkura family. As the child of a mistress, she steels herself for cruelty. Instead, stepmother Teru and stepsisters Marika and Arisa turn out to be overwhelmingly, almost comically kind. The series is a heartwarming gap comedy that mines the space between Miya's anxious expectations and her family's genuine warmth.
Otsuji's manga has been serialized on Ichijinsha's comic POOL platform (via pixiv Comic) since November 2020 and went viral on Japanese social media. It currently runs nine volumes in Japan, with Seven Seas Entertainment publishing the English edition.
Studio NEWON handles the animation, with Keisuke Inoue (井上圭介) directing, Nanami Hoshino (星野七海) on series composition, and Mutsumi Sasaki (佐々木睦美) on character design.
The previously announced voice cast includes Hina Suzuki as Miya, Kujira as stepmother Teru, Yu Serizawa as Marika, Yuzuka Nukai (貫井柚佳) as Arisa, and Anna Mugiho (麦穂あんな) as Gungnir.
