Rudeus, Roxy, and Sylphie's Voice Actors Are Drinking on the Job
The fun part of this announcement is the format. Timed to Episode 5's celebratory subtitle, TOHO animation will premiere a special cast audio commentary on its YouTube channel, and the three actors recorded it while drinking. The stated idea is to give viewers a more relaxed way to enjoy the show on a Sunday night, raising a glass along with the cast whether or not they drink themselves.
The premiere runs in sync with the TV airing. An opening talk kicks off at 11:58 p.m. Japan time on Sunday, July 26, two minutes before the episode starts on Tokyo-area broadcaster TOKYO MX and satellite channel BS11. The main commentary rolls at midnight alongside the broadcast itself.
The lineup covers the show's central trio. Yumi Uchiyama has voiced Rudeus Greyrat since the anime's 2021 debut. She's joined by Konomi Kohara (Chika Fujiwara in Kaguya-sama: Love is War), who plays Roxy, and Ai Kayano (Menma in anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day), who plays Sylphiette. Given that both of Rudeus's wives-to-be are in the recording booth, the casting fits this particular episode.
A Wedding and Two Overdue Birthdays in "Celebration"
According to the episode preview published by Japanese entertainment news site Dengeki Online, Episode 5, titled "Oiwai" (Celebration), opens with Cliff and Elinalise's wedding at the Holy Millis church, with Rudeus and his friends there to celebrate the couple. Afterward, Rudeus realizes that his younger sisters Norn and Aisha never got a proper celebration for their tenth birthdays, so he heads into town with Sylphiette and Roxy to shop for presents.
Then the synopsis cuts off on a tease: "and finally, Rudeus's long-held wish..." The preview doesn't say what that wish is, so we'll find out when the episode airs. Dengeki Online's article also includes a batch of preview stills from the episode.
Season 3 continues the story of Rudeus Greyrat, a reclusive 34-year-old reborn in a fantasy world who resolves to take his second life seriously. The season is produced at Studio Bind under director Ryōsuke Shibuya, adapting Rifujin na Magonote's novels published under KADOKAWA's MF Books label. Yuiko Ōhara performs the opening theme "Ketsui no Uta," and Mika Nakashima sings the ending theme "Inori, Owareba."
Looking Ahead
In Japan, Episode 5 airs at midnight as Sunday, July 26 turns over, with the YouTube commentary's opening talk starting at 11:58 p.m. on the TOHO animation channel.
Internationally, Crunchyroll is streaming Season 3, which premiered on July 5, 2026 and adds new subtitled episodes on Sundays. An English dub has been rolling out weekly since July 18. No word yet on whether the drinking commentary itself will get English subtitles.
