Last Year's Show Set a High Bar

Jump Festa has become the anime calendar's December centerpiece, and the 2026 edition showed why. As Famitsu reports in its coverage of the new dates, last year's event delivered the announcement of a new One Piece anime film, the production reveal for Chainsaw Man Assassins Arc (the MAPPA-produced continuation that follows the Reze Arc theatrical film), the streaming date for JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run, the broadcast window for Dandadan Season 3, and a brand-new anime adaptation of KochiKame, the long-running Shonen Jump police-box comedy, under the title Shin Kochira Katsushika-ku Kameari Koen-mae Hashutsujo.

That Steel Ball Run announcement turned out to be a Netflix premiere in March 2026, and Dandadan Season 3 landed a 2027 broadcast window. In other words, the reveals made on these stages tend to reach international screens fast. If Jump Festa 2027 follows the same pattern, expect its two days to shape a good chunk of the 2027 and 2028 anime slate.

Two Days at Makuhari Messe

The 2027 edition runs Saturday, December 19, and Sunday, December 20, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, with last entry at 4:30 p.m. The venue is Makuhari Messe's International Exhibition Halls 1 through 9 plus Hall 11, though Famitsu notes the hall plan is still provisional.

Jump Festa is co-hosted by five of Shueisha's Jump magazines: Weekly Shonen Jump, the Shonen Jump+ app, V Jump, Jump SQ., and Saikyo Jump. The format mixes stage events, where series news breaks and voice casts perform live, with exhibition areas for original manga art and products, plus a sales floor for event-exclusive merchandise. Admission details and the stage lineup were not part of this first announcement.

Looking Ahead

The full program will be published through the Jump magazines and the official Jump Festa site, according to the event's announcement. No stage lineup, exhibitor list, or ticketing information has been revealed yet.

For fans outside Japan, there is no word yet on livestream plans for the 2027 edition. Still, if last year is any guide, the headline announcements will be everywhere within hours: the Chainsaw Man, Steel Ball Run, and Dandadan news from Jump Festa 2026 all reached Western outlets and streaming platforms almost immediately. The next checkpoint is whatever lineup reveal the Jump magazines run in the months ahead.
