Two Feet of SOS Brigade for Your Couch

According to Japanese anime news site Anime Anime, the three plushies come from DoQute Petit, arcade and amusement company TAITO's brand for super-oversized character plush. The spec sheet backs up the "oversized" part: each figure stands about 60cm tall with a depth of around 37cm, and while Haruhi and Mikuru measure roughly 40cm across, Yuki is the widest of the trio at about 48cm. All three are rated for ages 15 and up.

Preorders opened July 24, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. JST on TAITO GEAR&GOODS, TAITO's online merchandise store, and run through August 31, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. JST. Orders ship in January 2027. As for what you do with a plushie this size, Anime Anime suggests the obvious: sit one next to you, lean on it, or just hug it.

Twenty Years Since the "Hare Hare Yukai" Dance Went Viral

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya adapts Nagaru Tanigawa's light novel series, illustrated by Noizi Ito and published under Kadokawa's Sneaker Bunko light novel imprint. It is a sci-fi-flavored school story built around the SOS Brigade, the unofficial club Haruhi runs at her high school.

The 2006 TV adaptation became a full-on social phenomenon in Japan. Its deliberately shuffled episode chronology and the "Hare Hare Yukai" ending-theme dance won it explosive popularity across the early internet, and the series hits its 20th broadcast anniversary in 2026. The plushies arrive as part of the ongoing "Suzumiya Haruhi no Onrei" project, a thank-you campaign for longtime fans. Earlier beats of that project included a two-week theatrical revival of The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya starting February 6, 2026, and an anniversary exhibition is set for Tokyo in August 2026.

A Giveaway With the Full Purchase Price on the Line

To mark the preorder launch, TAITO GEAR&GOODS is running a follow-and-repost giveaway on X through July 29, 2026. Followers of the store's official account (@TAITO_G_G_JPN) who repost the designated campaign posts can win a coupon code covering the full purchase price of one of the three plushies. Each character has its own drawing with one winner apiece, all three run simultaneously, and the Anime Anime report notes fans can enter all of them.

Looking Ahead

The preorder window closes August 31, 2026, and the plushies ship in January 2027. The source doesn't mention international shipping, so no word yet on availability outside Japan. Beyond the plushies, the 20th-anniversary celebration keeps rolling: the Tokyo exhibition opens in August 2026, and Kadokawa's official anime YouTube channel is hosting the anniversary PV for anyone who wants to revisit how this all started.
