A Necktie That Hides Frieren on the Flip Side
The centerpiece of the drop from COSPA, a maker of official character goods and apparel, is the "Frieren Necktie," priced at ¥6,050 (tax included, roughly $40). Frieren is printed on the reverse of the tie's wide blade, so from the front it reads as a plain necktie. Flip the end over and a gently smiling Frieren appears. The idea, per the pitch, is a tie that quietly backs you up through the workday without announcing itself to the whole office.
According to Japanese anime news site Anime Anime, the tie is made in Japan using a printing technique chosen for vivid color and fine detail, and it uses polyester for easy care. The dimensions are standard: a 7 cm wide blade, a 4 cm narrow blade, and a 145 cm overall length. That matters, because the whole gag depends on the tie passing as normal business wear.
Two T-Shirts and Velcro Patches Round Out the Set
For weekends, COSPA is adding two T-shirts at ¥3,300 each. The "Frieren's Seduction T-shirt" (フリーレンの色仕掛け Tシャツ) recreates the show's "seduction" scene, in which Frieren blows a kiss. Anime Anime calls it one of the series' memorable beats. It comes in two colors, WHITE and SUMI (an ink-black shade). The "Frieren & Fern 'Mimic Escape' T-shirt" is black only and, as the name says, puts the pair's recurring mimic trouble on a shirt.
The third item is a lineup of three detachable full-color patches at ¥1,430 each. Each has a hook-and-loop backing, and the border is stitched in the relevant character's signature color. The product images show a Fern patch in use. They attach directly to military-style gear with hook-and-loop panels, and each patch also ships with a loop-side base you can sew onto whatever you like, so they aren't limited to tactical wear.
Where the Series Stands
Frieren: Beyond Journey's End is based on the manga written by Kanehito Yamada and drawn by Tsukasa Abe, published by Shogakukan. The story is set after the hero's party has already defeated the Demon King. Frieren, an elf mage who has lived for more than a thousand years, sets out on a journey to understand people after the death of Himmel, the hero she once fought alongside. The series' appeal comes from its shifts in tempo, moving between small comedic exchanges among the cast and serious battles fought with magic and swords.
The TV anime began airing in September 2023. Season 3, adapting the Golden Land arc (黄金郷編), is set to begin broadcasting in October 2027, according to Anime Anime. That gives COSPA a long merch runway between now and the next season.
Looking Ahead
Every item in the lineup gets an early sale at the COSPA booth during Tokyo Game Show 2026, running September 17 through 21, and at the Kyoto International Manga Anime Fair 2026 on September 19 and 20. The general release is scheduled for early December 2026, and preorders are already open through the COSPA online shop and other retailers. Anime Anime's report doesn't mention overseas shipping, so international fans will likely need a proxy service.
For the anime itself, Frieren: Beyond Journey's End streams on Crunchyroll, and the manga is published in English by Viz Media. Season 3 is scheduled for October 2027; Anime Anime's report doesn't include international distribution details for the new season.
