Five Voices on One Stage in Hibiya
The heart of the event is the post-screening stage greeting at TOHO Cinemas Hibiya in Tokyo. Atsumi Tanezaki (種﨑敦美), who voices Frieren and is known worldwide as Anya Forger in Spy x Family, leads the lineup alongside her traveling-party co-stars Kana Ichinose (市ノ瀬加那), the voice of Fern, and Chiaki Kobayashi (小林千晃), the voice of Stark.
Joining the trio are Tarusuke Shingaki (新垣樽助) and Reina Ueda (上田麗奈), who play the mages Genau and Methode. The announcement bills the pair as the main characters of Season 2's Revolte arc, the demon-battle stretch that anchors the screening lineup. According to Japanese anime news site Animate Times, the five will share recording-session stories tied to the screened episodes and look back on Season 2 as a whole.
Only the Hibiya audience will see the stage greeting in person, but the talk will be shown live at the other eight participating theaters: TOHO Cinemas locations in Ikebukuro, Shinjuku, Susukino (Sapporo), Nagoya Sakae, Umeda (Osaka), and LaLaport Fukuoka, plus Yokohama Burg 13 and Hiroshima Balt 11.
Eight Hand-Picked Episodes, Not a Marathon
The screening block is a curated edit of Season 2 rather than a straight rerun. It opens with the first half of Episode 29 "Jaa Ikou ka" (roughly, "Well, Shall We Go"), the start of the party's Season 2 journey, then jumps to the Fern and Stark date storyline that had fans talking, pulling the back half of Episode 31 "Suki na Basho" ("A Favorite Place") and the front half of Episode 32 "Dareka no Kokyou" ("Someone's Hometown").
From there it runs Episodes 34 through 36 in full, covering the Revolte arc's demon battles, before closing on the Himmel-focused back half of Episode 37 "Himmel no Jiden" ("Himmel's Autobiography") and the complete Season 2 finale, Episode 38 "Utsukushii Koukei" ("A Beautiful Sight"). Episode titles here are rough translations of the Japanese; official English titles may differ.
The date is tied to the show's history. The anime premiered on September 29, 2023, so the September 26 screening lands three years, almost to the day, after Episode 1 first aired.
Anniversary Postcards With an Anime Expo 2026 Connection
Attendees at all nine theaters receive a two-postcard set. The first carries a brand-new 3rd-anniversary visual produced by animation studio Madhouse (One-Punch Man, Death Note), and the artwork stays under wraps until the day of the event. The second reprints the "Macht of the Golden Land" illustration drawn by series character designer 高瀬丸 (likely Takasemaru), originally handed out at the Frieren special event during Anime Expo 2026 in Los Angeles this past July. Macht is the demon at the center of the upcoming third season's story.
Tickets for the Hibiya stage-greeting venue cost ¥2,900 (about $20) and are sold through an advance lottery on Ticket Pia, a Japanese ticketing service, from 11:00 a.m. JST on September 4 through 11:59 p.m. on September 13, with results announced around 6:00 p.m. on September 15. The eight live-viewing theaters charge ¥2,200 (about $15), with sale dates varying by cinema. Screenings start at 12:10 p.m. at every venue, and the stage greeting and live viewing begin at 2:30 p.m.
Looking Ahead
The screening doubles as a one-year countdown. Season 3, which adapts the Golden Land arc, airs on Nippon TV and its affiliates from October 2027, and the Animate Times announcement lists the returning cast: Tanezaki, Ichinose, and Kobayashi keep their roles, alongside Nobuhiko Okamoto as Himmel, Hiroki Tōchi as Heiter, and Yōji Ueda as Eisen.
No international version of the event has been announced, and the event covers only the nine Japanese theaters. For everyone else, Crunchyroll streamed Season 2 internationally when it aired earlier in 2026. Kanehito Yamada and Tsukasa Abe's original manga runs in Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday, and Viz Media publishes it in English.
The next concrete date is September 4, when the Ticket Pia lottery opens. The 3rd-anniversary visual itself stays hidden until the theater lights go down on September 26.
