The First Time Anyone Gets to Play Fate/EXTRA Record
Fate/EXTRA Record just locked in a January 28, 2027 worldwide release at September's State of Play, and Aniplex only took over publishing duties from Bandai Namco at the end of August. Two weeks later, the company is putting the remake in players' hands for the first time anywhere, according to a report from Japanese gaming news site 4Gamer.
The demo itself is a focused slice. Players pick one Servant from Saber, Archer, or Caster, then take on the first arena of the story. From there, two floors are on offer: Floor 1 starts with the tutorial and suits anyone touching the game for the first time, while Floor 2 serves up tougher battles and stage gimmicks for players who want a real fight.
Fate/EXTRA Record is a full remake of Fate/EXTRA, the 2010 PSP dungeon RPG set in the Moon Cell's Holy Grail War. It is coming to PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Switch, Switch 2, and PC.
Melty Blood and Demon Slayer Fill Out the Playable Lineup
Two more titles join the demo stations. The first is Melty Blood: TWI-LUMINA, the next entry in the Type-Moon fighting game series from longtime developer French Bread, currently dated for sometime in 2027.
The second is Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, The Hinokami Chronicles 2 Nintendo Switch 2 Edition bundled with the Infinity Castle Chapter 1 Character Pass. That package launches October 29, 2026, and the character pass adds seven Infinity Castle fighters, including new versions of Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Akaza. TGS attendees get to try it about a month before release.
A Life-Size Noble Phantasm, Cosplayers, and a Mascot Tanjiro
Aniplex is also dressing the booth up as a photo spot. Saber's Noble Phantasm Aestus Estus, the blade she calls the Primordial Fire, will be on display, and a rotation of cosplayers is scheduled to appear: Yamohachiko as Saber and Moe Iori as Caster, alongside Kichipiyo. Iori is one of Japan's most visible cosplayers, with over 150 magazine covers to her name.
On the Demon Slayer side, Tanjiro Kamado will roam the booth in costumed mascot form, billed as a "mini corps member" (みに隊士). Photo sessions and greeting appearances with both the cosplayers and the mascot are planned across the show.
Looking Ahead
Tokyo Game Show 2026 runs September 17 to 21 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba. For fans outside Japan, nothing at this booth is Japan-only. Fate/EXTRA Record launches worldwide on January 28, 2027, with XSEED Games handling the Western physical release and pre-orders already open. The Demon Slayer Switch 2 package arrives everywhere on October 29, 2026. Melty Blood: TWI-LUMINA is the one to watch for more news; beyond its 2027 window, Aniplex and French Bread have yet to pin down a date.
