Six Arms, Flying Heads, and a Very Polite Insult

Episode 9 of the Demon Slayer rebroadcast dropped viewers right back into one of the show's wildest early fights. Tanjiro has barely settled into Tamayo's hideout to discuss turning demons back into humans when Susamaru and Yahaba — demons dispatched by Muzan Kibutsuji — crash the party.

What follows is a gauntlet of moments that clearly haven't lost their punch seven years later. Susamaru's temari ball connects with Yushiro's head, blowing it clean off — a moment that drew stunned reactions all over again from viewers: "Yushiro's head just went flying lol," "I was shocked the first time his neck came off." Of course, Yushiro is a demon himself, so his head slowly regenerates, leaving Tanjiro wide-eyed.

Susamaru then claims to be one of the Twelve Kizuki — Muzan's most powerful subordinates — and sprouts six arms, prompting fans to compare her to Ashuraman from Kinnikuman and Hatchan from One Piece. Meanwhile, Yushiro lends Tanjiro his Blood Demon Art, allowing him to see the arrows that indicate Yahaba's attack trajectories. "Yushiro's Blood Demon Art is way too useful," fans noted, though others pointed out that seeing the arrows didn't make dodging them any less impossible.

Nezuko takes on Susamaru's temari barrage and loses her foot in the process — another moment that hit viewers hard. And then there's Tanjiro's standout line as he battles Yahaba: "I'm sorry but... those eyeballs on your hands are gross!" The apology before the insult had fans rolling: "The 'I'm sorry but' is so unnecessary lol," "He says it twice, what a good kid."

Cast Comments From the Demon Duo

The official Demon Slayer account released commemorative cast comments alongside the rebroadcast, and both voice actors had fun tidbits to share.

Mikako Komatsu (Maki Zenin in Jujutsu Kaisen), who voices Susamaru, expressed genuine surprise at a detail about her own character. She noted that Susamaru and Yahaba have "incredible teamwork" during their joint assault, but she didn't learn until later that the two demons were actually meeting for the first time. "Wait, really?! They had the vibe of a duo who'd been partners for years!" The detail was originally revealed in the episode's end-card segment, the "Taisho Kosokoso Rumor" preview.

Jun Fukuyama (Lelouch Lamperouge in Code Geass), who voices Yahaba, reflected on the recording sessions and the sheer ambition of ufotable's animation. "When I saw the visuals on screen during recording, I couldn't help thinking, 'Are they really going to animate all of this?'" he commented. "The composition of those shots was electrifying." Given that ufotable's action choreography in this early arc was already turning heads, it's easy to see why.

Looking Ahead

The full series rebroadcast, which kicked off on April 5, 2026 — almost exactly seven years after the original premiere on April 6, 2019 — airs every Sunday at 9:30 AM on Fuji TV and affiliated stations across Japan. Next week brings Episode 10, "Zutto Issho ni Iru" (Always Together), on June 7.

The rebroadcast covers all five TV seasons from Tanjiro Kamado's Resolve Arc through the Hashira Training Arc. The Infinity Castle movie trilogy picks up where the TV series left off, with the first chapter having premiered in theaters on July 18, 2025. Internationally, the Demon Slayer anime is available on both Crunchyroll and Netflix, with the Infinity Castle film hitting Crunchyroll on April 9, 2026.

For fans rewatching, the appeal is clear. As several viewers put it: "Demon Slayer seriously feels like it's five minutes long" — and battle-heavy episodes like this one make the runtime fly even faster.
