'GOD OF THUNDER' Opens the Endgame
The premiere, episode 41 under the Thousand-Year Blood War numbering, is titled "GOD OF THUNDER." According to a broadcast-day report from Famitsu, the Japanese games and entertainment outlet, the episode sends Ichigo, Orihime, and Chad toward the throne room for the confrontation with Yhwach, the Quincy king voiced by Takayuki Sugō. Uryū Ishida finds Jugram Haschwalth (Yūichirō Umehara) standing in his way, while below the castle, Yoruichi's fight with Askin Nakk Le Vaar (Shunsuke Takeuchi) gets underway.
Masakazu Morita returns as Ichigo Kurosaki, the substitute Soul Reaper he has voiced since the anime's earliest days, alongside the rest of the long-running cast. That continuity is part of what makes this final run notable: the TV anime started in 2004, and many of these actors have been with their characters for over two decades.
Tite Kubo Supervises the Series to the Finish
Bleach began as Tite Kubo's battle manga in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump, and it has kept a devoted fanbase well past the manga's conclusion. Kubo remains directly involved in the anime's final part, credited as original creator and chief supervisor.
The production team from the earlier Thousand-Year Blood War parts is back at Pierrot Films. Tomohisa Taguchi serves as chief director and shares series composition duties with Masaki Hiramatsu, Hikaru Murata directs, Masashi Kudo handles character designs, and Shiro Sagisu composes the music. The adaptation of the manga's final arc started in October 2022, and The Calamity is the final block of episodes, which will carry the TV anime series through to its ending.
Looking Ahead
In Japan, streaming began Sunday, July 26 at noon across Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, d Anime Store, ABEMA, U-NEXT, Hulu Japan, and other services, following each week's TV Tokyo broadcast.
International fans are covered too. Viz Media confirmed that The Calamity streams exclusively on Hulu in the United States and on Disney+ internationally, matching the arrangement from the previous Thousand-Year Blood War parts.
