A Matched Pair Built Around the Height Gap

If you've watched even a single episode of The Apothecary Diaries, you know the height difference between Maomao and Jinshi is a running visual gag — and a surprisingly effective romantic shorthand. Kotobukiya's OSHI WORKS brand is leaning into that dynamic with a pair of figures designed to be displayed together, as revealed by Comic Natalie.

Maomao stands approximately 200mm tall; Jinshi clocks in at 250mm. That 50mm gap mirrors the characters' in-universe proportions and gives the paired display a sense of scale that most standalone figures can't pull off.

Design and Display

The Maomao figure captures her signature look — the low twin-tails, ribbons, and green-and-magenta palace servant outfit — with a gentle, forward-facing smile. Jinshi gets the cooler treatment: a composed half-smile, flowing hair, and his ornate court attire complete with a traditional fan.

Both figures use magnet-based mounting instead of the usual peg-and-hole system. The practical upside is that collectors can reposition each figure freely within a display case without worrying about fixed stand holes. It's a small touch, but a welcome one for anyone who's ever tried to squeeze two figures into a single detolf shelf.

Pricing and Pre-Orders

Each figure is priced at ¥8,800 (approximately $57) tax included. Maomao ships in November 2026; Jinshi follows in December. Pre-orders are live now at Kotobukiya's online shop as well as AmiAmi and other major retailers.

At that price point, OSHI WORKS is positioning these below the premium scale-figure tier while still offering painted, finished sculpts — no assembly or painting required. The line's whole concept revolves around the Japanese fan term "oshi" (your favorite character), aiming for accessible collectibles rather than high-end display pieces.

Looking Ahead

The timing here is no accident. The Apothecary Diaries is heading into a packed stretch: Season 3 premieres in October 2026 on Nippon TV in a split-cour format, with the second half following in April 2027. A theatrical film featuring an original story by author Natsu Hyuuga opens in December 2026 — the same month the Jinshi figure ships.

For international fans, Crunchyroll has streamed the first two seasons and is the likely home for Season 3, though no official confirmation has been announced yet. The source light novels are published in English by J-Novel Club, and the manga adaptation is available from Square Enix Manga & Books.

If you're planning to grab both figures, note that staggered release months mean two separate shipping charges from most retailers — something to factor in if you're ordering from overseas.
