A Nendoroid Doll Is Not a Nendoroid
The distinction matters here, because Jinshi already has a regular Nendoroid. Nendoroid Doll keeps the oversized Nendoroid head but replaces the stubby chibi body with a taller, more articulated frame sized to wear real cloth. Good Smile Company describes it as a palm-sized action figure built for posing, and this non-scale figure stands roughly 140mm (about 5.5 inches) tall.
The parts list is more textile than plastic. The set includes the figure, a kimono, a haori, an undergarment, shoes with magnets in the soles, a full set of interchangeable hands, and a dedicated stand that works with those magnets. Materials are listed as fabric, magnets and plastic. Sculpting is credited to Nendoron and Shimotaku, with production cooperation from the Sawada Kobo workshop and costume patterning by Kazumi Oka. On a doll whose clothes actually come off, that last credit decides whether it looks good.
Price is 9,200 yen including tax, with a March 2027 release window, according to a product breakdown from Anime Anime, a Japanese anime and entertainment news site. Good Smile's US storefront lists the same figure at $51.99.
Jinshi, the Man Who Keeps Handing Maomao His Problems
The Apothecary Diaries is set in an imperial rear palace, where Maomao, a girl working as a food taster, untangles the incidents that keep piling up around the court. The series has passed 57 million copies in circulation, built on a mix of straight mystery plotting, a heroine with no interest in palace politics, and a setting that keeps its distance from the usual fantasy furniture.
Jinshi is the eunuch who manages that rear palace. Anime Anime's write-up notes that his looks are the sort that would be called nation-toppling if he were a woman, and that his job amounts to carrying the palace's messes to Maomao so she can solve them. His position and his origins remain unexplained, and when someone made an attempt on his life, Maomao's quick thinking kept him alive. He starts the series treating her as a convenient piece to move around the board.
The Nendoroid Doll reproduces Jinshi's familiar outfit rather than any of the alternate looks the series has given him.
Looking Ahead
The timing puts this one in the middle of the busiest stretch the franchise has had. Season 3 premieres October 2, 2026 in Nippon TV's Friday 11 p.m. FRIDAY ANIME NIGHT block, with Yorushika performing the opening theme "Kumo wo Nuke Kazashita e Watashi Dake." The season is split, and the second half is scheduled for April 2027, which means the figure ships roughly a month before Maomao is back on air. Crunchyroll is streaming Season 3 as it airs.
Before that, the first theatrical film, The Apothecary Diaries: The Deceased Empress' Treasure, opens in Japan on December 11, 2026 with an original story by series author Natsu Hyūga. No overseas theatrical dates were announced alongside the Japanese opening.
