On November 2, 2026, TRILL published a retrospective on DEVILMAN crybaby, the 10-episode Netflix anime based on Go Nagai's manga Devilman. TRILL's feature contains no new announcement about the series.

Masaaki Yuasa directed the anime at Science SARU, and TRILL says it was made to mark the 50th anniversary of Nagai's career. The outlet writes that the manga's intense violence, sexual content and harsh storyline had long made a faithful adaptation seem extremely difficult under TV broadcast restrictions. It adds that many fans were surprised when the Netflix-exclusive adaptation was announced.

The series began streaming worldwide on January 5, 2018. TRILL highlights Ichiro Okouchi's series composition, which incorporates modern social media, and Kensuke Ushio's electronic score. It also notes that the anime won Anime of the Year and Best Director at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards 2019.

TRILL says reactions spread quickly on social media after all 10 episodes arrived at once. The posts it quotes, translated here, include "Netflix, seriously?", "I signed up in seconds" and "All of humanity, watch it." TRILL describes such posts as numerous.
