Girls Band Cry THE MOVIE, an all-new film based on Toei Animation's original anime, will open on May 21, 2027, the anime's official website announced. The announcement also included a teaser visual, a teaser video and advance ticket details.
The teaser opens with protagonist Nina Iseri shouting, "National Contrarians Tour (tentative)! Let's go!" (translated), according to an Anime! Anime! report. The report says the video shows the band members clashing, growing closer and confronting injustice. It also shows the group traveling around by car alongside the line "TOGENASHI TOGEARI national tour!?" (translated). Anime News Network says the video teases the tour as part of the film's story.
Character designer nari Teshima drew the new teaser visual, which lines up all five members of the band. It carries the anime's familiar tagline, "Throw it all in: anger, joy and sorrow" (translated).
The first Mubichike advance ticket card, which features newly drawn art, goes on sale November 6, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. JST. It will be sold online in limited quantities through MOVIE WALKER STORE and Animate's online shop. The official announcement lists general admission at ¥1,900 including tax. Buyers also receive a mini acrylic stand of the teaser visual while supplies last.
Anime! Anime! lists Kazuo Sakai as director, Jukki Hanada as screenwriter and Toei as distributor.
The TV anime aired from April to June 2024 and follows Nina, a high school dropout who moves to Tokyo and forms TOGENASHI TOGEARI with four bandmates. Compilation films reached theaters in 2025.
