Shin-Ei Animation announced on September 19, 2026, that the classic cooking manga Oishinbo will get a new TV anime titled Shin Oishinbo. The studio revealed it at a stage marking its 50th anniversary during ABEMA Anime Matsuri 2026, according to a PR TIMES release from Shin-Ei Animation.

GIGAZINE's report on the announcement included a super teaser PV. It said Shin-Ei Animation is producing the series and that broadcast timing and cast would be announced later. GIGAZINE later updated the report with a teaser visual and three cast members:

  • Yōhei Azakami as Shirō Yamaoka
  • Hitomi Sasaki as Yūko Kurita
  • Akio Ōtsuka as Yamaoka's father, a gourmet who oversees a rival paper's "Supreme Menu"

Denfaminicogamer reported that the series will air in 2027 and that a teaser PV was released on October 1.

In Oishinbo, Yamaoka is a lazy newspaper reporter who knows a great deal about food. He and his colleague Kurita are assigned to create the "Ultimate Menu" for their company's 100th anniversary, which pits them against his father's "Supreme Menu." The manga began serialization in Big Comic Spirits in 1983. GIGAZINE says it has 111 published volumes and has been on hiatus since 2014.

Shin-Ei Animation also produced the earlier Oishinbo anime, which ran from 1988 to 1992.
