Phase 2 Takes the Stage in August
Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon -Shining Theater Shinagawa Tokyo- isn't slowing down. Oricon News reported that the immersive live show, which opened at Club eX in Shinagawa Prince Hotel on April 4, will continue with a second performance period running August 3 through November 30, 2026.
The show is produced by Nelke Planning, the company behind many of Japan's biggest stage adaptations, with direction and composition by Go Ueki and a script by Shinjiro Kameda. It features all 10 Sailor Guardians in a completely original story — not adapted from the manga or anime — performed by two rotating cast teams dubbed Gold Moon and Silver Moon.
An Original Story Pitting Sailor Guardians Against AI
For those unfamiliar with the premise: Usagi and the Inner Senshi visit a brand-new Tokyo theme park where an all-powerful AI can create anything perfectly. Things go sideways when a mysterious villain called Queen Valsia hijacks the AI to steal Usagi's heart, while Mamoru, Ami, Rei, Makoto, and Minako start experiencing strange physical effects.
Chibiusa and the Outer Senshi — Haruka, Michiru, Setsuna, and Hotaru — step up to save their friends, but Queen Valsia's control over the AI proves overwhelming. It's a premise tailor-made for the immersive theater format: AI creating a "perfect world" while the Guardians fight to protect what's real.
The show is a spiritual successor to the 2019 Shining Moon Tokyo production that ran in Azabu-Juban and drew strong crowds. That venue closed, but the concept found new life at Shinagawa with an entirely new story and staging.
Tickets and Special Events
Phase 2 tickets go on sale in two waves. Members of the official Sailor Moon fan club "Pretty Guardians" get first access starting June 6, with general sales opening June 14. Both domestic and international fans can purchase through the official online ticketing system.
Pricing runs from ¥8,000 (approx. $52) for A-class seats — with a children's rate of ¥4,000 (approx. $26) for ages 4-12 — up to ¥18,000 (approx. $117) for Premium and Sofa Premium seats. Private BOX rooms are available at ¥32,000 (approx. $208).
Weekday performances run at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., while weekends add an 11:30 a.m. matinee alongside the 3:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. shows. The theater is dark every Wednesday.
The production is also planning family-friendly and fan-engagement events during Phase 2. A "Kids Viewing Day" on August 22 — where cheering out loud is encouraged — gives younger fans a chance to get vocal. Special cheer performances with penlights are scheduled for August 25, November 17, and November 24.
Looking Ahead
Phase 1 runs through July 31, so there's still time to catch the current run before the August transition. The show offers English subtitles, making it one of the more accessible Sailor Moon live experiences for international visitors to Tokyo.
No word yet on whether the production will extend beyond Phase 2's November 30 end date, but the quick announcement of a second period suggests the show is performing well. For international fans not planning a Tokyo trip, the original Sailor Moon manga by Naoko Takeuchi is available in English from Kodansha USA, and the Crystal anime series streams on Crunchyroll and Netflix in most territories. Full Phase 2 schedules and song information are available on the official site.
