Bones Film Returns for Round Two
The Season 2 greenlight landed the same night the 13th and final episode of Season 1 went out, leaving no gap between the finale and the next announcement. Oricon News reported the renewal alongside a freshly released trailer teasing what comes next.
Bones Film, part of Studio Bones (My Hero Academia, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood), produced the first season and returns for the second. Director Motonobu Hori, series composer Kimiko Ueno, and character designer Kōhei Tokuoka led the Season 1 production, with composers Taisei Iwasaki and Yuma Yamaguchi on the score. Full staff confirmation for Season 2 has not yet been announced.
Season 2 will air every Tuesday at 11 PM JST in Fuji TV and Kansai TV's "Ka-Anival!!" late-night programming block, the same slot as the first season.
A Poisonous Premise
Marriage Toxin follows Hikaru Gero, an elite assassin from a centuries-old clan of poison specialists called the Gero Family. When the clan decrees that Hikaru's younger sister must produce an heir by force, Hikaru decides to find a wife himself to take the succession burden off her. His unlikely partner: Mei Kinosaki, a cunning marriage swindler who was originally his assassination target.
Shion Wakayama (Takina Inoue in Lycoris Recoil, Momo Ayase in Dandadan) voices Mei, while Haruki Ishiya (Jiro Yamada in Hypnosis Mic) plays Hikaru. The Season 1 cast also includes Anna Nagase as Kyōko Himekawa, Mariya Ise as Shizuku Ushio, Asaki Yuikawa as Shiori Ureshino, and Sōma Saitō as Gen'ya Naruko. The first season adapted the Water Master, Sound Master, and Beast Master arcs from the source manga across 13 episodes.
The manga is written by Joumyaku and illustrated by Mizuki Yoda. It has been serialized on Shueisha's Shonen Jump+ app since April 2022, with 17 collected volumes published in Japan as of April 2026.
Creator Joumyaku Celebrates
Manga writer Joumyaku shared a celebratory comment alongside the Season 2 announcement. "Thanks to the anime staff, who make the original work 1000% more amazing, and the voice cast, who breathe life into the characters with their incredible performances," Joumyaku said.
The first season's opening theme, "Kill or Kiss" by Yurina Hirate, and ending theme, "Shake Na Baby" by AKASAKI, became closely associated with the show. No word yet on theme artists for Season 2.
Looking Ahead
Marriage Toxin Season 2 premieres in January 2027. Crunchyroll streams the series internationally across North America, Europe, Latin America, Oceania, Africa, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia. Season 1 is available subtitled on the platform now.
The source manga is published in English by Viz Media and is available digitally through the Viz Shonen Jump library. With 17 volumes of material already in print and the first season covering only three arcs, Bones Film has no shortage of source material for the new season.
