The Exhibition Hits Nagoya on Its National Tour
The Hikaru no Go Original Art Exhibition has been making the rounds across Japan since its Tokyo premiere in July 2025, and Nagoya is its sixth stop after previous runs in Osaka, Kyoto, Fukuoka, and Niigata. Anime Anime reported that the Aichi venue opened today at Nagoya PARCO's South Building 10F Event Space, where it will remain through June 14.
For anyone who needs a refresher: Hikaru no Go is the Weekly Shonen Jump manga written by Yumi Hotta and illustrated by Takeshi Obata (Death Note, Bakuman) that turned the ancient board game of Go into a genuine phenomenon. The story follows Shindo Hikaru, an ordinary kid who gets possessed by Fujiwara no Sai, a Heian-era Go genius. Between Sai's obsessive love for the game and the rivalry of young prodigy Toya Akira, Hikaru slowly awakens his own talent. The manga ran for 23 volumes, and the TV anime adaptation aired 75 episodes from October 2001 to March 2003.
Admission is ¥2,000 in advance or ¥2,200 at the door. Timed-entry tickets are required for the opening weekend (May 23-24), with advance sales handled through e+. Every paid attendee receives a hanafuda-style card (one of eight designs, distributed randomly) as an entry bonus.
Character-Themed Drinks and Go-Inspired Desserts
Outside the exhibition hall, a kitchen car has set up shop on Nagoya PARCO's West Building 1F, offering five collaboration menu items inspired by the series' core trio.
The drink lineup features three soda floats at ¥864 each: Shindo Hikaru's Mango Soda Float, Fujiwara no Sai's Grape Soda Float, and Toya Akira's Blue Soda Float (a lychee-flavored blend topped with blueberries and blue condensed milk). Two desserts round out the menu at ¥918 each — Hikaru's Chocolate Pudding and Akira's Milk Pudding, both decorated with Go stone-shaped macarons and fruit. Each item ordered comes with a random illustration card from a set of eight.
The kitchen car runs daily through June 14, with weekday hours of 11:00-18:00 and weekend hours extending to 20:00. It will close early or shut down entirely in severe weather.
New Merchandise for the Aichi Venue
The exhibition's merchandise lineup has expanded with new items debuting at the Nagoya stop. Highlights include photo collectible cards (30 designs, ¥275 each), a sock collection (8 designs, ¥990), name badge collections (8 designs, ¥660), face towels featuring Hikaru, Sai, and Akira individually (¥2,200 each), an omamori charm (¥880), an aurora acrylic keychain of Waya Yoshitaka (¥880), and a deck of playing cards (¥2,750). An exclusive acrylic stand is also available as an add-on with a ¥1,500 exchange ticket purchased in advance.
All merchandise is sold inside the exhibition venue on the 10th floor — not at the kitchen car — and a valid exhibition ticket is required to access the shop.
Looking Ahead
The Nagoya PARCO run closes June 14, and whether additional cities will be added to the tour has not been announced. Fans outside Japan can pick up the complete 23-volume manga in English from VIZ Media, available both in print and digitally. The 75-episode TV anime is worth tracking down for anyone who hasn't seen it — check regional streaming catalogs on Crunchyroll and other platforms for current availability.
