A Run-Up Built From Every Match Hinata Ever Played
The new visual, titled Josō (Run-Up), puts Shoyo Hinata mid-leap at the center of the frame. Around him, series creator Haruichi Furudate has newly drawn the trajectory of his challenges so far, including famous scenes with teammates and rivals, all framed from Hinata's own point of view. According to a report by Japanese anime news site Anime Anime, the image expresses the "run-up" of turning accumulated effort and experience into the push toward a higher level.
It follows the first key visual, Shisei o Tadasu (roughly "Straightening Up"), which was revealed in April and depicted Hinata, Tobio Kageyama, Kei Tsukishima, and Tadashi Yamaguchi as third-years.
Haikyu!! ran in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump from 2012 to 2020, and the volleyball series has passed 75 million copies in circulation (digital included) as of April 2026. This is its third original art exhibition.
Five Zones, Including Illustrations No One Has Seen Before
The exhibition traces the growth of Hinata, Kageyama, and the rest of the cast as they chase "the view from the top," split across five zones: "Those Who Aim for the Top," "To the Top of the Nation," "Nanimono" (roughly "who will they become"), "Yōkai Daisensō" (literally "The Great Monster War"), and the title zone, "Challengers."
The headline attraction is the Nanimono zone, which displays a batch of illustrations Furudate drew specifically for this exhibition and that have never been published anywhere. Per the announcement, they show the characters in ways the manga itself never did.
Furudate also shared a comment about revisiting his original pages while repairing peeling screentone for the show. He said the heat and urgency of the serialization days felt soaked into the manuscripts, joking that he "even wondered whether they'd smell like sweat," and invited fans to come feel that for themselves.
One practical note from the organizers: the exhibition includes material from parts of the story that have not been animated. Anime-only viewers who want to avoid spoilers may want to catch up on the manga first.
Tickets, Players Cards, and a MEGA Acrylic Figure
An advance ticket lottery opened on July 14 at 8:19 p.m. Japan time, limited to subscribers of the digital edition of Weekly Shonen Jump. The one to watch is the limited goods-included ticket, which bundles a signed players card set packaged in a custom binder.
On the merch side, the announcement confirmed an official exhibition catalog and an acrylic MEGA figure of the first key visual, Shisei o Tadasu. Every visitor also receives a players card pack containing two random cards.
Looking Ahead
The Tokyo run goes from October 30, 2026 to January 11, 2027 at Mori Arts Center Gallery, on the 52nd floor of Roppongi Hills Mori Tower, open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The exhibition then travels to Grand Front Osaka from April 24 to June 20, 2027, followed by a Sendai stop planned for summer 2027, which lands the show in Miyagi Prefecture, the series' home turf. No international tour dates have been announced.
Shueisha organizes the exhibition, and full details are on the official exhibition site. For international fans who want a refresher before October, the Haikyu!! anime streams on Crunchyroll and Netflix.
