Testarossa Takes the Council Floor
The short preview hands the spotlight to one of Rimuru's most dangerous subordinates. While the slime protagonist is tied up fighting in Lubelius, a demon army is bearing down on the Kingdom of Englesia from the north, and the western nations have fallen into chaos. The twist is that Rimuru placed a piece on the board ahead of time: Testarossa is already stationed at the Council, dispatched there earlier on his orders. The newly released scene cuts include a shot of her standing by in Englesia as the army approaches.
Testarossa is voiced by Yumi Uchiyama (Rudeus Greyrat in Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation, Puck in Re:Zero), and the synopsis makes her the calm center of an episode about everyone else losing theirs.
What Happens in "Turbulence in the West"
Episode 90, titled "Turbulence in the West" (西方動乱), airs Friday, August 14 at 11:00 PM JST on Nippon TV and its affiliates, according to the episode preview published by TV-listings site WEB The Television and carried on Yahoo! News Japan. In Japan, the show also streams on ABEMA, Disney+, Hulu and other services.
The preview picks up from episode 89, "Lubelius, the Point of Convergence," which aired August 7 and sent Demon Lord Leon, searching for Chloe, toward Lubelius at the same time Granbell led an army there. With Rimuru's side committed to that fight, the new episode opens a second front in the west. How the Council reacts to having a demon in the room while a demon army marches on Englesia is the question the synopsis leaves hanging.
A 62 Million-Copy Isekai Machine
That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, known to Japanese fans by the shorthand TenSura, is based on the manga Taiki Kawakami draws from Fuse's original story. The series has topped 62 million copies in circulation worldwide. The setup is isekai bedrock: Rimuru, voiced by Miho Okasaki, is reborn in another world as a slime and carves out a life with his companions on wit and nerve.
Since the first TV anime in 2018, the franchise has grown into spin-off anime, side stories and theatrical films. The latest movie, Sōkai no Namida-hen (roughly "Tears of the Azure Sea"), opened in Japan on February 27 with an all-new story set at sea, a first for the series. Season 4 has been airing since April 3 as a continuous two-cour run, roughly half a year of weekly episodes, with animation once again handled by longtime series studio Eight Bit. One quirk worth knowing for newer viewers: the show numbers its episodes continuously across seasons, so episode 90 is Season 4's 18th episode.
