MYTH & ROID Returns as Tanya Marches Back to War
NUT (Deca-Dence, Blue Giant) is back in the trenches with the long-awaited second season of its flagship military fantasy. Famitsu reported the July 8 premiere alongside a batch of new details: a second key visual, theme song artists, and a bonus mini anime.
The new key visual shows Tanya towering over the frame, conductor's baton in hand, flanked by Imperial Army leaders Zettour and Rudersdorf. It's a fitting image for a season that puts the three of them at the center of the Empire's desperate bid for a decisive victory.
MYTH & ROID, who delivered the fan-favorite Season 1 opener "JINGO JUNGLE," returns with "Why? RED induction." The group described the track as inheriting the "primal intensity" of their first contribution while layering in the bleakness and grief that define the new season's tone. The ending theme, "Weiter! Weiter!" (German for "Onward! Onward!"), is performed by Aoi Yūki (Madoka Kaname in Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Tsuyu Asui in My Hero Academia) in character as Tanya, with sound production from Masayuki Nakano of THE SPELLBOUND and BOOM BOOM SATELLITES.
What Season 2 Covers
Set in autumn of Unified Calendar 1926, Season 2 follows Lieutenant Colonel Tanya von Degurechaff as she takes command of the newly formed Salamander Kampfgruppe. The battle group looks formidable on paper but is cobbled together from disparate units. An early Federation winter compounds the Empire's problems, trapping it in an inescapable quagmire as every nation involved chases total victory without understanding what that actually costs.
The original light novel series by Carlo Zen, published by KADOKAWA, has surpassed 12 million copies in circulation. Chika Tojo's manga adaptation runs to 34 volumes.
Mini Anime 'Youjo Shenki 2' Fills in the Gaps
Following each main episode's broadcast, a short-form companion anime titled Youjo Shenki 2 (ようじょしぇんき2) will air on AT-X and stream on YouTube via the KADOKAWA Anime Channel at midnight every Wednesday. The shorts focus on the newly assembled Salamander Kampfgruppe's growing pains: Weiss struggling to train green recruits, Tanya fretting over logistical headaches before winter sets in. These are the everyday stories the main series doesn't have time to tell.
