A Global Netflix Hit Gets Another Round
Japanese entertainment site Comic Natalie confirmed Record of Ragnarok IV on June 27, alongside a teaser PV and new season logo. The teaser appeared on the Warner Bros. Japan Anime YouTube channel. No premiere date, animation studio, or staff details have been announced for the new season.
Season 3 premiered exclusively on Netflix in December 2025 and reached the platform's weekly top 10 in 83 countries and regions, hitting number one in 13 of them. The season began airing on Japanese TV on April 3, 2026 on Tokyo MX and BS11.
Record of Ragnarok adapts the battle manga by Shinya Umemura, Takumi Fukui, and Azychika, serialized on manga publisher Coamix's Zenon Plus web platform. The gods of every mythology convene and vote to end humanity. To prevent the apocalypse, valkyrie Brunhilde proposes a tournament pitting 13 of history's greatest humans against the gods in one-on-one combat. The anime launched in 2021, with Season 2 following on Netflix in 2023. Seasons 2 and 3 were produced by Yumeta Company (with MARU animation joining for Season 3), directed by Kōichi Hatsumi.
What the Creators Are Teasing
All three original creators shared comments celebrating the Season 4 announcement. Writer Shinya Umemura expects the new season to center on Rounds 10 and 11 of the divine tournament. He described them as a serious swordsmanship battle and the first battle of wits since the Jack the Ripper fight, calling both rounds well-suited to animation.
Artist Azychika was enthusiastic about the material ahead, listing sword duels, gunfights, tangled romance, and swirling conspiracies. Co-writer Takumi Fukui framed the renewal as an inevitability rather than a surprise, expressing full confidence it would happen.
Azychika also provided a celebratory illustration to mark the occasion.
Looking Ahead
No premiere window has been set for Record of Ragnarok IV, and whether the Season 3 production team (Yumeta Company, MARU animation, director Kōichi Hatsumi) returns has not been confirmed.
All three previous seasons are streaming on Netflix, which has served as the series' exclusive international distributor since Season 2. Given that track record, Netflix is the likely home for Season 4 as well, though no official confirmation exists yet.
The source manga is published in English by Viz Media in both print and digital editions, making it easy for fans to read ahead while waiting for the next season.
