Three Zones Built Around Volleyball's Core Skills
Haikyu!! On The Court splits its floor into three experience areas themed around the sport's fundamentals: "Jump" (飛ぶ), "Hit" (打つ), and "Connect" (繋ぐ). Each zone pairs video analysis exhibits with hands-on physical challenges, letting fans watch, learn, and then move — a three-step structure designed to make volleyball's appeal tangible even for visitors who've never touched a ball.
The event kicks off with an opening theater featuring newly recorded audio from 12 characters, setting the stage with dynamic visuals tied to the three themes.
The Jump Zone: Compete Against Kuroo's Vertical
The Jump area is guided by Tokyo powerhouse players Kuroo, Kenma, Yaku, and Bokuto, who break down the aerial abilities of national-level athletes. Their analysis covers Oikawa's serve form (the model Kageyama studied), Ushijima's physics-defying spikes that blow through triple blocks, and Miya Atsumu's precise tosses — each examined from a different tactical angle.
The interactive highlight here is the "Aim for the Highest Point!!" challenge, split into two sections: a Challenge Area where visitors jump against the vertical reach of the series' most athletic characters, and a Free Area for jump photos alongside them. It's the kind of thing that sounds simple until you realize how high anime volleyball players actually get.
The Hit Zone: Hinata and Kageyama's Evolution, Live on Court
The Hit zone traces the Hinata-Kageyama combination from its raw Season 1 debut through the Spring Tournament prelims, the Shiratorizawa match, Spring Nationals Round 3, and the Dumpster Battle. Narrated by Hinata, Kageyama, Tsukishima, Nishinoya, Oikawa, and Ushijima, the exhibit digs into the thinking and adjustments behind each evolution of their quick attack.
The showpiece is the "Synchro Court" — a full-court-scale installation that recreates their signature combination through immersive video projected across multiple vantage points. Visitors experience the speed and spatial awareness from different positions on the court, feeling the attack's evolution in real time rather than just watching a clip.
The Connect Zone: Receive Oikawa's Serve (Good Luck)
The Miya twins — Atsumu and Osamu — host the Connect area, bringing their rapid-fire Kansai dialect banter to narrate a highlight reel of legendary receives. Featured players include Karasuno's guardian deity Nishinoya, Nekoma's defensive anchor Yaku, and Inarizaki captain Kita, plus Hinata's own diving and foot saves.
The "Serious Receive Battle" is the zone's interactive draw: visitors face down video-projected serves from the series' biggest servers — Oikawa and Miya Atsumu among them — and attempt to receive them with proper timing. The system grades precision in real time and delivers a final score. It's as close as most fans will get to understanding just how terrifying an Oikawa jump serve actually is.
Karasuno's First-Years Are Your Guides
In a charming bit of in-character worldbuilding, the event's pre-opening orientation introduced four Karasuno players — Hinata, Kageyama, Tsukishima, and Nishinoya — as "high school guides" for visitors. The orientation video (available on the official site's SPECIAL page) shows them reacting to the exhibits in character: Hinata immediately declaring he won't lose the jump challenge, Kageyama nodding earnestly at the tactical analysis, Tsukishima noting how exhausting it is to reach those heights mid-rally, and Nishinoya apologizing to staff when the first-years start bickering.
Looking Ahead
Haikyu!! On The Court runs June 27 through August 2 at Osaka's Dojima River Forum, then August 7 through September 13 at Bellesalle Roppongi in Tokyo.
