Aone and Futakuchi Ride In as Sendai Tourism Ambassadors
Kasho Sanzen, the Sendai confectioner behind the region's signature souvenir cake Hagi no Tsuki, has partnered with Haikyu!! every year since 2024. Year three belongs to Date Tech. According to Anime Anime's report, Takanobu Aone and Kenji Futakuchi were named Sendai Tourism Ambassadors this year, and that appointment sparked the pair's first tie-in treat: a special edition of Date Emaki.
Date Emaki is a Sendai classic in its own right: a baumkuchen-style cake baked layer by layer from egg-rich batter and wrapped around sweet red bean paste and cream. The name nods to the feudal Date clan that once ruled the Sendai domain. The limited packaging uses newly drawn art of Aone and Futakuchi in traditional Japanese dress on horseback, a design the announcement says is meant to recall Date Tech's famed "Iron Wall" blocking. An eight-piece box sells for ¥1,550.
Tsukishima's Moon and Oikawa's Zunda Make Their Return
The collaboration's fan favorites are back as well. Kei Tsukishima once again pairs with Hagi no Tsuki, the custard cake whose "moon" name matches the character in his surname, and this year's five-piece box (¥1,690) gets brand-new illustrated packaging.
Toru Oikawa keeps his dessert portfolio, too. Last year's popular special package of Sendai zunda mochi returns: bite-size mochi wrapped around zunda, the sweet edamame paste that is a Miyagi food tradition, in an eight-piece box for ¥1,550. Oikawa also fronts a Zunda Shake tie-in, a vanilla shake blended with zunda from the specialty shop Zunda Saryo. The tall size comes with an Oikawa straw tag and costs ¥630 to go or ¥642 for eat-in, sold only at select Zunda Saryo counters.
Beyond the food, the lineup includes stickers, clear files, and tin badges using the new Date Emaki and Hagi no Tsuki artwork, plus a ¥100 shopping bag featuring Tsukishima and Oikawa that is exclusive to the station venue.
Looking Ahead
The pop-up runs August 11 through August 25, 2026 at a special venue on the third floor of JR Sendai Station, near the JR ticket counter, open 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. If a trip to Miyagi is not in the cards, Kasho Sanzen's official online shop will take orders from August 26 to September 2, 2026, with product details to be announced there closer to the date. Quantities are limited across the board.
The franchise itself has a stacked 2027 on deck. Per the same report, the theatrical film Haikyu!! vs. The Little Giant will pit Karasuno against Kamomedai in theaters, while the special anime Haikyu!! Bakemono-tachi no Iku Tokoro (The Place Where Monsters Go) covers the Fukurodani vs. Mujinazaka match on TV. For fans outside Japan, the anime streams on Crunchyroll and Netflix, and Haruichi Furudate's original manga, complete at 45 volumes, is published in English by Viz Media. The sweets themselves, though, are a Japan-only affair.
