ufotable Delivers Another Birthday Treat

Every year on June 1, the Demon Slayer franchise celebrates the birthday of Mitsuri Kanroji — the Love Hashira whose bubbly personality and devastating combat style made her one of the series' most beloved characters. This year, ufotable (Demon Slayer, Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works) marked the occasion with a brand-new chibi illustration shared on the official Demon Slayer X account.

The artwork features a miniature Mitsuri sporting her iconic ultra-mini skirt, the detail that has become something of a running visual gag across official birthday art drops. The official post read: "June 1 is Mitsuri's birthday! To celebrate, we've released a new ufotable-drawn mini-character illustration. Please enjoy!"

Fan Reactions Flood the Timeline

The post quickly picked up traction, with fans flooding the replies. "She looks so happy — so cute. Happy birthday!" wrote one user. Others called the chibi illustration "too precious" and praised the character's "big round eyes" in the artwork. The annual birthday illustrations have become a fan-favorite tradition, giving ufotable's artists a chance to show off a more playful side of the franchise's characters outside of the intense battle sequences the studio is known for.

Mitsuri's popularity has only grown since the Swordsmith Village Arc adapted her backstory and showcase fights in 2023, cementing her as a fan favorite heading into the Infinity Castle trilogy.

Looking Ahead

The Demon Slayer franchise is currently between major releases. The first Infinity Castle film opened in Japan on July 18, 2025 and shattered domestic box office records, with a North American theatrical run following in September 2025. The Blu-ray and DVD release for Infinity Castle Part 1 arrives on July 29, 2026. Part 2 of the trilogy is slated for 2027, with Part 3 expected in 2029.

For international fans, the entire Demon Slayer TV anime series is available on Crunchyroll and Netflix. The original manga by Koyoharu Gotouge is complete at 23 volumes, published in English by Viz Media and available digitally on the Shonen Jump app.
