Mamoru Miyano Takes the Pitch as Kaiser

The marquee casting reveal is Mamoru Miyano (Light Yagami in Death Note, Rintaro Okabe in Steins;Gate) as Michael Kaiser, the ruthless German striker who appeared in Season 2's final scene. Miyano joins returning lead Kazuki Ura, who continues voicing protagonist Isagi Yoichi.

Kaiser has been among the manga's most anticipated characters to reach the anime. A newly released teaser visual places Isagi and Kaiser face to face, and character profile visuals for both strikers were also unveiled.

Japanese entertainment news outlet Oricon News reported the news as part of "Blue Lock Day," a special event held on June 9 that rolled out eleven waves of information spanning the anime, an upcoming live-action film, and stage productions.

What Is the Neo Egoist League?

For viewers picking up after Season 2, the Neo Egoist League arc marks a major shift in scale. Blue Lock's premise is a ruthless national project that locks 300 young strikers in a facility and forces them to out-compete each other. In this arc, that competition goes international. Surviving players are drafted onto five teams modeled after Europe's top clubs and thrown into a round-robin tournament to prove who deserves the title of world's best striker.

The arc begins around chapter 150 of the manga by Muneyuki Kaneshiro (story) and Yūsuke Nomura (art), serialized in Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine. It is substantially longer than previous arcs, which suggests Season 3 could run for multiple cours.

No director has been announced for Season 3. Season 1 was helmed by Tetsuaki Watanabe, while Season 2 had Yuji Haibara directing. Series composition for both seasons was handled by Taku Kishimoto.

Looking Ahead

Multiple sources point to October 9, 2026 as the premiere date, though neither Eight Bit, TV Asahi, nor Kodansha have officially confirmed it. The timing tracks with the franchise's pattern: Season 1 launched in October 2022, and Season 2 followed in October 2024.

Crunchyroll is expected to handle international streaming, following its licensing of the first two seasons. The English dub of Season 1 also began airing on Adult Swim's Toonami block in early 2026. The manga is published in English by Kodansha USA and is available both digitally and in print.

Beyond the anime, a live-action Blue Lock film is in production and scheduled to release during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. A fifth stage play production has also been confirmed. No Season 3-specific trailer has dropped yet, but a Blue Lock Day special video celebrating the franchise across all its formats was released alongside the announcement.
