Oricon reported on October 14, 2026 that episode 50 of the TV anime The Apothecary Diaries drew posts on X about Maomao and Jinshi. The episode, the second of the anime's third season, aired on Friday, October 9 at 11 p.m. JST on the Nippon TV network.
According to the Oricon News report, the episode, titled 「火鼠の皮衣」 and listed as "The Fire-Rat Cloak" on Prime Video, shows Jinshi kept busy by government duties as the emperor's younger brother and unable to hide his fatigue. When Maomao asks whether he cannot sleep alone, he answers at once that he cannot. She misses what he means and has women waiting at the bathhouse to give him a massage, then arranges courtesans as well. Jinshi turns all of it down and says he is simply sleepy. Once he is in bed, he takes Maomao's arm as she tries to leave and asks her to at least sing him a lullaby. He falls asleep as she sings.
After Maomao sees him off, Pairin (白鈴) asks her why she does not give in already. Oricon writes that Maomao, who has not noticed how Jinshi feels, appeared not to understand what Pairin meant.
Oricon also quoted posts on X about the episode, among them comments that Jinshi now has a face he shows only to Maomao, and that the situation is frustrating but that is what makes it good.
The third season began on October 2 and is airing as a split two-cour run.
