Anime!Anime! has published the results of its annual reader poll on which character comes to mind as a teacher, and Satoru Gojo of Jujutsu Kaisen finished first with about 16 percent of the vote. The site collected 267 responses between September 29 and October 2, 2026.
October 5 is Teacher's Day in Japan, a commemorative date tied to UNESCO's World Teachers' Day. Respondents were about 45 percent male and 55 percent female; roughly 35 percent were 19 or younger, and about 25 percent were in their 30s.
Gojo rose from second place in the previous edition. He teaches at the Tokyo metropolitan jujutsu technical college and guides Yuji Itadori and other young sorcerers. One reader praised the gap between his overwhelming strength and his breezy manner, and said they would like to sit in on one of his classes.
Koro-sensei of Assassination Classroom slipped from last year's top spot to second with about 14 percent. He is the homeroom teacher of Class 3-E at Kunugigaoka Junior High School and, at the same time, his students' assassination target. One quoted reader welcomed the 2026 film Gekijōban "Ansatsu Kyōshitsu" Minna no Jikan and its theme song "Teacher"; the film's official site gives a nationwide Japanese release of March 20, 2026.
Hansuke Doi of Nintama Rantarō took third with about 5 percent, his second year in that position. He is the subject teacher for the first-year Ha class at the Ninja Academy.
