The New PV Spotlights Suzuki and Tani's Relationship

The freshly dropped second PV for You and I Are Polar Opposites Season 2 pairs the newly confirmed opening theme with a montage of Suzuki and Tani's daily interactions — the kind of low-key, warm scenes that made Season 1 a sleeper hit among romance fans. Produced at Lapin Track (Shoshimin: How to Become Ordinary), the trailer also teases evolving dynamics across the rest of the cast: Yamada and Nishi's friendship inching toward something more, Taira lost in solitary thought, and Higashi confronting a new side of herself after something Taira says.

Sayumi Suzushiro (Akira Ono in Hi Score Girl, Uruka Takemoto in We Never Learn) returns as Suzuki, with the full main cast intact from Season 1 — including Tomori Kusunoki (Llenn in Sword Art Online Alternative Gun Gale Online) as Honda.

7co Delivers the Opening Theme

The OP, titled "Nekojarashi" (meaning "cat teaser" — the grass toy, not an actual cat), comes from 7co, a music project pairing vocalist Nanako Ashida with producer RYUJA. In a comment released alongside the PV, 7co said they were so charmed by the manga that they "seriously looked for a way to go back to being a student." They also admitted that early demo versions all had lyrics mentioning Tani's cat, Tempura, by name.

7co described recording the vocal with Suzuki's character in mind, adopting a slightly different singing voice than usual. The song aims to capture "the ticklishness of first love and youth dissolved into everyday life" through the image of a cat's-tail grass — the kind that just grows on the roadside, unassuming but everywhere.

Full Staff and Cast

Director Takakazu Nagatomo helms the season at Lapin Track, with Teruko Utsumi handling both series composition and animation producing. Character designs are by Miyako Mako, with tofubeats returning on the score — a pairing that gives the show its distinctive lo-fi-adjacent atmosphere.

  • Koharu Hirabayashi as Satō
