Episode 13 Skips the Reset and Heads Straight Into Christmas

Season 2 carries the episode numbering over, so the new season opens with Episode 13, "Christmas Eve" (クリスマスイヴ), continuing directly from the 12-episode first season that wrapped in March. According to the synopsis and preview stills published by Japanese anime news site Anime Anime, Suzuki and Tani are facing their first Christmas Eve spent together, and they plan a date for the occasion. That date involves making a cake, and Suzuki's heart skips a beat as she watches Tani take the baking completely seriously. The synopsis cuts off right there, so we'll find out what complicates the evening when the episode airs.

The Season 1 Team Returns at Lapin Track

You and I Are Polar Opposites adapts the romantic comedy by Kocha Agasawa (阿賀沢紅茶), which ran on Shueisha's Shonen Jump+ app until 2024, has passed 2.1 million copies in circulation including digital editions, and picked up multiple manga awards along the way. The premise is right there in the title: Suzuki is a relentlessly cheerful girl who secretly worries about how others see her, while Tani is a quiet boy who has no trouble saying exactly what he thinks. The series follows the two as they slowly learn to understand each other, alongside everyday school life with their circle of friends.

Director Takakazu Nagatomo again leads the production at Lapin Track, with Teruko Utsumi handling series composition, Mako Miyako on character designs, and tofubeats composing the music. Sayumi Suzushiro (Nijika Ijichi in Bocchi the Rock!) voices Suzuki opposite Shogo Sakata (Aki Hayakawa in Chainsaw Man) as Tani, and the friend group from Season 1, including Tomori Kusunoki as Honda, returns as well.
