Testarossa Holds the Line at Ingrassia
The new synopsis, published by Japanese anime news site Animate Times on August 11 alongside a batch of advance stills, opens with the Western nations in free fall. A demon army marching down from the north has thrown the region into chaos, and the invasion force is closing in on the Kingdom of Ingrassia. Waiting for it there is Testarossa, the envoy Rimuru dispatched to the Council. The synopsis doesn't say how that standoff plays out; we'll find out when the episode airs.
The episode is titled "Seihō Dōran" (roughly "Upheaval in the West"), and it follows episode 89, "Lubelius, the Point of Convergence." On the staff side, the script comes from Eight Bit's own 齋藤皓允, with storyboards by 安田賢司 (likely Kenji Yasuda), episode direction by 佐々木達也 (likely Tatsuya Sasaki), and 小峰正頼 (likely Masayori Komine) as chief animation director.
Where Season 4 Stands
Season 4 has been airing since April 3, 2026, with Naokatsu Tsuda directing at Eight Bit, the studio that handles the TV series. It is a long-haul production: the season is planned as five cours in total, with the first two airing back to back from April.
Story-wise, this stretch picks up after Tempest's Founding Festival. Rimuru's monster nation has opened diplomatic ties with its neighbors and is working toward a world where humans and monsters live side by side. Not everyone is on board. Powerful figures in the West see Rimuru's rise as a threat and are scheming against him, Demon Lord Leon has started moving in the golden land of El Dorado, and a new "hero" is about to awaken. Miho Okasaki returns as Rimuru, leading a cast that includes Tomoaki Maeno as the storm dragon Veldora and Takahiro Sakurai as Diablo.
Blu-ray Volume 2 Gets New Art From All Three TenSura Artists
The same announcement confirmed the contents of Blu-ray Volume 2's special limited edition, out November 27, 2026 for ¥19,800. The set collects new artwork from all three artists behind the franchise. The enclosed booklet gets a newly drawn cover from Mitz Vah, the illustrator behind Fuse's original novels. The storage box features new art by anime character designer Ryouma Ebata, and the digi-jacket comes from Taiki Kawakami, who draws the manga adaptation in Kodansha's Monthly Shōnen Sirius magazine.
Looking Ahead
Episode 90 airs Friday, August 14 at 11:30 p.m. in Nippon TV's "FRIDAY ANIME NIGHT" block across 30 stations nationwide, followed by BS11 on August 15, AT-X on August 16, and Animax on September 5. In Japan, streaming starts August 15 at 11:00 p.m., with free catch-up available from August 19; full listings are on the official TenSura broadcast page. Internationally, Crunchyroll carries Season 4, so the Western-invasion arc is easy to follow outside Japan. After that, the next date on the calendar is November 27, when Blu-ray Volume 2 arrives.
