A Cross-Industry Voice Cast Takes the Stage
The stage greeting events listed on anime.eiga.com show how far beyond the usual voice actor pool this film's casting reaches. Koichi Domoto (堂本光一), one half of the legendary J-pop duo KinKi Kids, voices the film-original character Zodon. Domoto's anime voice work is rare; his only other known credit is a role in the 2006 sci-fi series Jyu Oh Sei.
Joining him are two members of the idol group Hinatazaka46: Nao Kosaka (小坂菜緒) as Mio and Kaho Fujishima (藤嶌果歩) as Yori, both film-original characters. Celebrity voice casting in anime films is a well-established tradition in Japan, and TenSura's second movie draws star power from across the entertainment industry.
Four Venues, One Day
The February 28 stage greetings spanned four sessions at three Tokyo theaters. The first two took place at the Marunouchi Piccadilly at 11:00 and 14:25, followed by TOHO Cinemas Shinjuku at 15:30 and Grand Cinema Sunshine Ikebukuro at 17:30. Tickets were priced at ¥2,500 (tax included), with advance lottery sales handled through ticketing platform Ticket Pia.
The full six-person lineup of Miho Okasaki (Rimuru), Asuna Tomari (Gobta), Saori Ōnishi (Yura), Kosaka, Fujishima, and Domoto appeared at the Marunouchi sessions. The Shinjuku and Ikebukuro events featured a smaller group of Okasaki, Tomari, and Ōnishi.
About the Film
Tears of the Azure Sea is the second theatrical film in the That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime franchise, produced by Eight Bit and directed by Yasuhito Kikuchi. The story takes Rimuru and friends to the Kaien Kingdom, an underwater nation that worships a water dragon as its guardian deity. According to the anime.eiga.com listing, the kingdom was founded by people who once lived on the surface alongside other races, wandered the world seeking peace, and were eventually granted this conflict-free realm by the water dragon.
The film opened in Japanese theaters on February 27, 2026.
Looking Ahead
Crunchyroll brought That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime the Movie: Tears of the Azure Sea to theaters in the United States and Canada starting May 1, 2026. For fans who missed the theatrical window, Crunchyroll holds worldwide streaming rights (excluding most Asian territories), so a digital release is likely to follow. Meanwhile, the TV anime's fourth season began airing on April 3, 2026, keeping the franchise in the spotlight through the spring season.
