Koyama Brings Mutta and Hibito Full Circle
The key visual for the exhibition carries the tagline "The end is a beginning" and depicts brothers Mutta and Hibito Nanba in matching spacesuits, posed in the same composition as the manga's very first volume cover. Where volume 1 showed two kids looking up at the stars, the new illustration shows where those kids ended up.
Chuya Koyama described the concept behind the drawing: he wanted to pay homage to that iconic first cover by placing the grown-up brothers side by side in the same pose, now wearing matching spacesuits. "I hear a wonderful team has put together the exhibition," he added. "Please enjoy it."
Space Brothers began serialization in Kodansha's Morning magazine in December 2007 and wrapped on June 11, 2026, spanning 46 volumes and more than 35 million copies in print and digital. The series won both the Shogakukan Manga Award and the Kodansha Manga Award in 2011, and later took the Reader Prize at the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize in 2014.
What the Exhibition Offers
The show features original artwork, production materials, and walk-through areas built around memorable scenes for each major character. Merchandise-bundled tickets come in three varieties: a "Beginning" acrylic keychain, a notebook stamped with the series' running gag line "Jot it down in your Heart Notebook," and an acrylic stand keychain bearing the exhibition's "The end is a beginning" tagline.
Visitors also receive a daily-rotating sticker as a free entry bonus, with different designs depending on the day of the week.
Regular admission runs ¥1,900 in advance or ¥2,100 at the door on weekdays, and ¥2,100 advance or ¥2,300 at the door on weekends. Merchandise-bundled tickets cost ¥3,700 to ¥4,100.
A Fitting Farewell Venue
The venue itself adds a layer to the "ending" theme. Seibu Shibuya, the department store hosting the exhibition, is closing permanently at the end of September 2026 after more than 50 years in the neighborhood. The Final Space Brothers Exhibition will be among the store's last major events before it shuts its doors for good.
Looking Ahead
The Final Space Brothers Exhibition opens July 31 and runs through August 23, 2026, at the Seibu Shibuya Store Building A, 7th floor event space, with hours from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. (last entry at 7:30 p.m.).
For international fans who want to revisit the series, the full 99-episode Space Brothers anime is currently streaming for free on the official YouTube channel in batches through July 12, 2026. The English-language manga is published by Kodansha USA, with the final volume 46 releasing on July 23, 2026. No international touring dates for the exhibition have been announced.
