Tempest Clears the Council — Now Comes the Hard Part

Episode 79's synopsis, released by Animate Times, picks up right where last week left off. The attempted assassination of Elrick has been foiled, and the Western Nations Council wraps up with the Jura Tempest Federation's membership secured. Crisis averted — on the diplomatic front, at least.

But the real work starts once Rimuru and company get back to Tempest. The synopsis confirms they immediately begin interrogating Glenda, the agent who carried out the assassination attempt. Given that the episode is literally titled "The Mastermind's True Identity," it's safe to say the interrogation won't stay surface-level for long.

What to Expect From Episode 79

Season 4 has spent several episodes building out the political chess match between Tempest and the Rozzo faction — former Hero Granbell Rozzo and his granddaughter Mariabel have been pulling strings behind the scenes. Episode 79 looks poised to start connecting those threads.

The episode's staff credits list Akiko Waba on script, with Mai Suzuki handling both storyboard and episode direction. Chief animation directors for the episode are Hideki Yamazaki, Masayori Komine, and MC Yamada Serika.

Ten scene stills were released alongside the synopsis, though Animate Times hasn't made the images directly embeddable.

About That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 4

For anyone jumping in mid-season: Season 4 adapts the light novel series by Fuse (with Taiki Kawakami's manga adaptation published by Kodansha). The story follows Rimuru Tempest, a former human reincarnated as a slime in a fantasy world, who has built the Jura Tempest Federation into a thriving nation where humans and monsters coexist.

Season 4's arc centers on the growing tension between Rimuru's federation and those who see his rising power as a threat — particularly the Rozzo family from the Siltrozzio Kingdom. Meanwhile, Demon Lord Leon is making moves in El Dorado, and a new Hero is about to awaken.

The season is produced at studio 8bit, directed by Naotaka Tsuda, with Hitomi Ogawa on series composition and Ryōma Ebata handling character design. The opening theme is "Esoragoto" by Eir Aoi, with the ending theme "Katsubō" by CiON.

Looking Ahead

Episode 79 airs Friday on Nippon TV and BS11 in Japan. Crunchyroll streams the episode the same day at 7:00 AM PT for subscribers worldwide — the platform holds international rights across North America, Europe, Latin America, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia. Amazon Prime Video also carries the series in Japan.

Season 4 is confirmed for a massive five-cour run, with the first two cours airing back-to-back through Spring and Summer 2026. The remaining three cours are scheduled for 2027 and beyond. The source manga is published in English by Yen Press, and the light novels by the same imprint.

A second theatrical film, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime the Movie: Tears of the Azure Sea, is also currently playing in North American theaters via Crunchyroll.
