Eris Walks Away, and the Sword Sanctum Takes Her In
Back in Season 1, the mass-teleportation disaster that struck the Fittoa region flung Eris and Rudeus all the way to the Demon Continent. The two survived a brutal journey home, but it left a wound. When the Dragon God Orsted attacked on the road, Eris couldn't protect Rudeus, and that helplessness convinced her she had no business standing at his side. So she left him. Her goal: become strong enough to deserve that place, and one day cut Orsted down.
That is exactly where the Eris Training Arc picks up, according to an episode preview that Japanese anime news site Anime Anime published alongside advance stills from both episodes. Eris arrives at the Holy Land of the Sword, the setting English-language fans know as the Sword Sanctum, with her mentor Ghislaine Dedoldia, and begins training under the Sword God Gal Farion. Training there too is Nina, a girl who already carries the Sword Saint rank. The synopsis has Eris clashing with everyone around her and swinging her sword anyway, driven by bloodlust and impatience.
The episode titles wear the arc's attitude openly: episode 1 is "Moe yo Kyōken" (Burn, Mad Dog) and episode 2 is "Hoe yo Kyōken" (Howl, Mad Dog).
Ai Kakuma voices Eris, with Megumi Toyoguchi as Ghislaine. The arc brings in Haruka Tomatsu (Asuna in Sword Art Online) as Nina Farion and Tetsu Inada as the Sword God Gal Farion, while Yōko Hikasa voices the swordswoman Isolte Cruel and Mari Yokoo plays Reida Reia. Yumi Uchiyama returns as Rudeus.
From Shut-In to 18 Million Copies
Mushoku Tensei adapts Rifujin na Magonote's light novels, published under KADOKAWA's MF Books label, with 18 million copies in circulation across the series. The books are regarded as a defining work of the isekai reincarnation genre, and the setup shows why: a 34-year-old shut-in dies in a traffic accident and wakes up as a newborn in a world of swords and magic. Reborn as Rudeus Greyrat, he carries his past life's memories and regrets into a vow to live seriously this time.
Season 1 premiered in January 2021 and Season 2 followed in July 2023. By the end of Season 2, Rudeus had come through his string of trials and started building a family of his own. Director Ryōsuke Shibuya leads Season 3 with animation production at Studio Bind. Yuiko Ōhara performs the opening theme "Ketsui no Uta," and Mika Nakashima sings the ending theme "Inori, Owareba."
How the Two-Night Premiere Works
The premiere schedule is unusual. Episodes 1 and 2 air back to back on Saturday, July 4 at 8:00 p.m. on the Tokyo broadcaster TOKYO MX, a full day ahead of the other stations, with the Japanese streaming services ABEMA and d Anime Store carrying them simultaneously. BS11, Sun TV, and KBS Kyoto follow with late-night airings on Sunday, July 5.
Only the premiere gets the double-episode treatment. From July 12, the series settles into its regular rhythm of one episode every Sunday night, and Anime Anime's report specifically warns viewers not to miss the day change.
Looking Ahead
Internationally, Crunchyroll streams Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 3 as part of its Summer 2026 lineup, with episodes arriving from July 5. Seven Seas Entertainment publishes both the light novels and the manga in English for readers who want to get ahead of the anime; the novels' Japanese run is complete at 26 volumes, so the road map for where Eris's training leads already exists in print. The latest trailer, which debuted Mika Nakashima's ending theme, is up now on the TOHO animation YouTube channel.
